Got back at it... almost done...

But, if a frame is bad, it is bad and you should toss it... this was really bad.

It’s like a time lapse of the frame disappearing.
nice
I just want it gone and get back to the project... I have a lot of stuff I need to move around in the other garage... I want to put everything where it belongs and it is difficult to do with the snow/ice we have had.

Everything has been pieced out and parted... just clean up tonight to put axles away and other small stuff that is cluttering up the bench.

I have a dump and scrap run to do as well.

I then would have to find glass for it ;)

One of the doors has plexiglass in it unfortunately.
I am actually going to throw on the Scrambler top I just tore down in the next few weeks to see how a regular top fits and looks... I just still haven't gotten the exact look I am going for (in my head).

I happen to know where a set of CJ-10 door glass is. :D

I swear I am going to get templates made, and send them off to see about getting some produced. The manufacturer already makes the replacement windows for the standard CJ doors, so I have hope they can make these as well.

If that fails, there are shops in Australia that part out the 10’s.

Seat work last night... got static brackets and made them work for both sides... now the seats are level (no need for tilt/life in this) and you can have them be at the same height/location and not look different from side to side.

Automatic is out... T176 will be going in.

Seats at the same height...

New $20 scratch/dent front fender that I will use for repair pieces for the rear wheel wells.

That's all for now.

That’s a great idea..grafting part of an inexpensive, readily available front fender for the rear wheel opening.
genius!
I can't take all the credit... deep in the recesses of my brain I recalled a post on someone hypothesizing that it would work, so I gave it a go... Jeff @ the Crown store in Canton, MA had a fender come in that was really dented, so for the right price I took a shot... I cut off the rest of the fender and recycled it, but it definitely looks like it will work.

So, finally back to it and need to get to button up the cage on the other side.

In an throwback homage to the Jscherb 250 lb. gorilla test I am sitting on top of the cage to show that it is all together and strong.
I didn't have anyone to take a picture of me, but these are the best I can do.
They still need finish welding, but the cage is now a 1 piece cage that is removable with the bolts.

So I really needed to solve the top issue I had in my head... buddy said he would give a hand and then couldn't... so what does a one man band do? remove the removal-able part.

20200215_143727_resized.jpg

Slide in top and replace.

20200215_155455_resized.jpg

This is really what I was aiming to see... how does the bottom lie on the tub.

20200215_155500_resized.jpg

not as close as I would like

20200215_155505_resized.jpg

20200215_155513_resized.jpg

There is quite a bit more overhang that I though there would be... but it make sense in that the bulkhead in a Scrambler would be more back to accommodate.

20200215_155518_resized.jpg

It is a bummer cause the top really fits nicely over the cage.

I had to pull the engine as it sold... so I did that and also realized that getting in/out of the Jeep to do the cage work really didn't work well with my knees, so I now have the tub off and will weld on all the captive nuts on the bottom and start to get the cage back in on the dolly so I can finish all that up and fix the back panel.

Then get the top fitting right and start on the door work... so plenty to do.
