Sunny Delight - now Shelly 2.0

I was wondering who was going to snag those!
I’ve bought quite a bit off Michael. Straight up guy. He’s an hour away and about 20 mins away from my engine builder so it’s an easy deal getting things from him.

With the mix-up tire purchase for the Postal I had the BFG 32s left over. Went ahead and mounted them up to the 15x8s going on the ‘81. Will swap them out in a few weeks when we’re back down at the coast and bring back the ProComps to sell

I did not add the black pinstripe. Just wasn’t feeling it

Did you paint or powder coat those wheels? What paint code/color? I have 2 sets and I’m trying to decide the best route.

These are powder coat “Snow White”. Not sure the brand

So I’ve had two separate guys say that Sunny Delight is a cool SR.

Not that it really matters to me with how I build my Jeeps (I don’t do restorations - I do resto-mods) but I’m curious what makes it an SR? Like I know you can’t see a code that tells you a CJ is a Laredo however there are so many other clues along with purse strap seat codes to pretty much know you’re looking at a Laredo.

what about Sunny Delight makes it appear to be a SR? From reading on here it seems the nutmeg interior, tilt column and wheel, rocker trim are the cues that it could be a Renegade

What does the Vin reflect
VIN doesn’t reflect trim level and neither do the rest of the codes on the data plate. Essentially you look for clues based on what I stated above to determine a trim level such as a SR

based on what I can see I’m fairly sure it is a SR as the guys pointed out just wanted some additional input

The Renegade style decals give it away, as opposed to Laredo style decals or no decals on a Base model

My last 81 had the same decals but no other indicators so I didn’t think decals mattered much. All in all it doesn’t matter was just curious really. I can’t wait to see the color shine again on this one

I think you're right about decals. A buddy of mine in college had a base 7 but his dad was the service manager at the Jeep dealer in Cheyenne where he was from. He got renegade decals and they installed them perfectly. They slowly added renegade stuff as he found it in wrecking yards, etc.

If it's still cruising around, it would real easily pass for a renegade today.

Am I the only one that doesn’t have a current project done but can’t stop thinking of the next one?!?

Something about this color combo is talking to me

No!

Rocker trim, stickers would be SR or SL. If it were SL, you'd have chrome grill.

You also have SR seats and steering wheel. SL would be leather wrapped spokes on wheel, stripes on the seats

You could have a base with the rocker trim, stickers, steering wheel, etc added as optional equipment, but most likely it was an SR from the factory.

Vin will point out a Laredo, as the interior code will specify the purse strap strips on the seats.

Vin will not tell you if it was a Renegade or base though.

Not at all! I have 2 current projects and 2 future projects, and am still looking for a postal project. I am sick, I have a problem.

That’s what I mentioned above - we’re on the same page. Thanks for confirming my thoughts!
