Spoke to Toby yesterday. Today is his last day before he joins the ranks of the unemployed. I joked that now he can sit back & relax. Seems he has a ton of stuff on his plate including getting my rig ready to ship. Also he has a build that starts Monday and has to be done in a week. Looks like some late nights.

Toby - Happy Retirement.

Yep, Happy Retirement Toby. Enjoy your fulltime working on '8s:thumbsup:

Jack, you gonna make the Nationals this year? ( gonna need some more gloves!):)

Won't make the Nationals. After getting the Scrambler shipped north. Funds won't be available for any trips. Would really like to be there. Getting together with fellow Jeepers sits really high on my list fun things to do.

Yeah, Toby is cutting back from 20 hours a day to only 16. If you do the math, that figures to 4 hours more per day to spend on Jeeps.

Sam and I will be there Monday, bright and early, to help with the 7 day build. Sam will be doing some serious welding and I expect to be doing some vigorous floor sweeping, coffee running, and any other monkey jobs he needs from me. It's gonna be fun.

THE 7-DAY BUILD STARTED????!!!!!!!!

:needpic:

Kevin, if you were there and didn't take pics to post.... there's going to be trouble!

Seriously, congrats on the official start of the full-time Jeep job Toby!!

I think he ended up delaying the build by a week. There is still a Waggy on the hoist that needs to get out of there so he has space to work. He still needs to order a few miscellaneous parts, too. We spent the day grinding and welding on the frame. That's prep work, not assembly work, so it doesn't count. He was either going to send it out for blast & paint, or just wire brush it and rattle can it. Janie took a few pics. Stay tuned for the real build.

Call me the Tin Man. I was literally rusting. It was hot, I was sweating, I was grinding, the grind dust was landing on my arms, legs, and neck, where it all turned to a comical looking orange mess. I think you could have picked me up with a magnet. Good times.

Nice. Thanks for the update. I can't wait to see this happen.

If it helps, and would be faster/easier, somene can just email me the pics and I'll put them up on the thread. Just want to help folks watch this insanity happen :D

congratulations Toby

I talked to him yesterday for a few minutes too. What a feat in todays times... to work at one job, one company for 40 years. My hats off to you for your persistence, patience, and diligence.

Congratulations ... and good luck with your new boss. I hear personal leave time is not easily approved.. :)

Thanks

Thanks for the "Well Wishes". If retirement is going to be like the first 3 days, I'm going job hunting tomorrow!

My "New Supervisor" (also known as the best wife in the world) has informed me that there will be NO more vacation days, sick days, or personal time off. Put in 13 hours today, came in the house & was informed it was time to start my retirement conditioning program for my health. We took a 1 mile walk. 'nough said. I'm whipped.

As Kevin said, I had to postpone the 7 day build a week to get things caught up in the shop. Jack's parts came in this afternoon and hopefully I can get it finished by the weekend. Also finishing up the frame off build of '79 CJ-5 that needs to be delivered to Grasim AFB by the weekend. Trying to button up an Arizona '81 Waggy "Frame On" restoration by the week end. I still need 12 more hours in the day. Looking forward to the "Nationals" for a break and some good fellowship.

Thanks again.
