I am looking at a for sale post that is local to me. It is a postal that comes with the doors, and full top. It comes with a glass tub. I guess the steel tub is a bit roasted. I am thinking the doors and top could be worth the $4k they are asking.

Anyone know which axles and gearing were standard in a postal?

Sell the fiberglass tub and keep the top. If it was local to me this would be a no brainer. @jims chop shop

Agree. Too bad I don’t have the space (or the excess cash). And yeah, James knows about it. He sent the link to me this morning.

I personally feel postals are the most undervalued Scrambler out there. They don’t seem to bring the money.

I agree. They are like the rarest of them.

Dana 30, AMC 20 Wide Track (probably), 2.73 Ratio, 258, TF 999

It's a tad rusty.

If that was near me, it would be sold. You should be able to sell the fiberglass tub for $1k at least. The top is worth at least $1500 if it has a good and complete barn door. If the side doors have the glass, they are worth $500 each.

That is $3500, and we have not started going into the other unique postal items (shifter, interior lights, letter shelf, rear bumper, etc...)

Then you have the parts that are not unique to the postals; fenders, hood, grill, drivetrain, frame, etc...

If the top and doors are in good shape, it is easily worth $4k even with a rusted tub.

There was someone who looked at it before I was able to talk to the seller. I was told he was going to get the funds and come back. I am sure it was him.

I ended up buying it. Needs a bunch of work but I have a another 8 that came as a load of parts that I can use as a donor.

And yes, they were all set up like this. The only option as they made them was the under-floor auxiliary gas fired heater for the units that went way north. Any other deviation was something after they were built. The rear diff was a trac-loc unit too.
