I've been on a temporary layoff for 5 weeks now. I normally work a lot of hours so my projects usually don't progress along very fast. Having family and an old house, etc, Jeep time is further down on the priority list but I do enjoy it. With the layoff I have been able to really catch up on things. One thing that has been really frustrating though is ordering Jeep parts. When I was first told I was being laid off I ordered a rear leaf spring mount kit and body mount bushing kit from Quadratech for my 82 Scrambler. In a week the body mount kit showed up but no spring mount kit. After a few days I called and asked about it, the guy said, " Oh it looks like that kit has been back ordered, it will probably be July before it comes". Now an email or some communication would have been nice, not just leaving me hanging, waiting and wondering. I told the guy it's pretty rare for me to have time off like this, I can't wait that long. He then said, " you ordered the Crown kit, we do have the Omix kit in stock, it is a bit more money ". I said well if you can get it here pretty quick send it. When it showed up it had 2 drivers side spring mount plates in the kit and no passenger side. One plate was packaged with the correct part number and label for passenger side right rear but it had a left rear in the bag. So I call them, explain my problem. Tell him it's the right package, wrong part. He apologized and said the right one is on it's way. A week goes by a Quadratech box shows up with the exact same part also in the right package but the wrong part. I called to explain this again and I told the guy on the phone, I know this is not your fault. I also know it's not the guy that pulled the order's fault, but you can see why I would be frustrated, what kind of feedback would you leave if you were me. He said, " I understand your frustration and I'm sorry...it's kind of like when you go thru a drive thru and order a cheeseburger and they give you something else, you just have to pull back around". What kind of feedback would you guys leave? I've got 5 weeks into this.
Also after the first order was wrong I decided to rob the spring mount from my 81 Scrambler. When I went to take it off the shock mount broke. In frustration I went in the house and looked up a passenger side spring mount from another company since I need 2 now. I ordered one from a place called Parts Geek. They raped me on shipping but I did get my part in 3 days and it was the correct part. BUT the shock mount was welded on crooked. I cut it loose and rewelded it just so I could keep some forward progress. What a circus!
