Looks like the Caribbean to me.This doesn't look like the type of weather we are getting up this way, that's for sure![]()
Buttoning up the T177 after a rebuild (front main bearing went bad). Hope to install it and the hydraulic clutch/master this coming weekend (if we don't get an inch of Ice like foretasted :|)

I used Novak's master kit. Came with Japanese bearings (not Timken) but we'll see how they hold up. A good pair of snap ring pliers and a large bearing splitter is all you really need to do it. Press helps but is not required. You use a rebuild kit or order components individually? I have a couple I need to go through.
Koyo bought Timken some years back, Koyo manufacture in both names. The last 2 differential rebuilds I've done came with Koyo, spec out the same as Timken, and never had a problem.Came with Japanese bearings (not Timken) but we'll see how they hold up.

I had to replace the reverse idler gear because it was chewed up. I probably should have replaced the 1/2 Syncro assembly but it was OK enough to throw back in.
I had never rebuilt a transmission before but there is a guy who does a step for step rebuild of the T176 on youtube and it was perfect.
So this is what you used? Did you substitute any of the original parts for the kit parts? Seems like there were original parts that were brass, but the kit replacements were plastic, so a lot of people reused the OEM parts in that case. Been awhile since I looked into it.

I'd my T176 and D300 last winter. First timer too for a transmission rebuild. But I rebuilt my NP231 t-case in my YJ, so I didn't think a T176 would be too hard. Used Novak master kits and watched the same guy on YouTube as you did. He does a great with his videos.I used Novak's master kit.
