I've been jumping all over the place on projects. My ADD doesn't make it easy to get anything done because I get distracted so easily.
After 40 years of not having an air compressor, my wife bought me a 33 gal Craftsman last year for Christmas. I have been amazed at how much more I can get done using air tools.
As usual, when it rains, it pours. Friend of mine who is a farmer, and who doesn't take care of any of his equipment, drops off this MitM wheelbarrow compressor and says "If you can fix it, you can have it."
I had to pull the cylinders off the pump, hone them (pistons were seized to the cylinder walls with rust), new gas tank, carb, pull start, and air cleaner on the Honda GX160, new unloader valve on the air pump, new regulator, new air pressure gauge, and new hose. Added a ball valve to the tank drain.
It now runs great, starts on one pull, pumps up quickly, and is portableish. Total cost about $160.
While I was still working on the MitM, Dad found a Tannewitz bandsaw on Craigslist and enlisted me to go with him to get it. Thing was about 10 feet tall, weighed about 3K lbs. We drive out to the middle of nowhere to a farm shop, load the saw up, and the guy said "I have a compressor over there if ya'll want it. It came out of the same liquidation sale as the saw."
So I have a Speedaire compressor now too. Had to rewire it from 220 to 110, but it looks to be in great shape. Have to put in a 120amp outlet to pull the motor, but this will allow me to put the big compressor in the shop, keep the Speedaire in the carport for tires and little stuff, and I've got the MitM in the truck now to use on the farm and wherever I might need air away from the house.
So now that I'm compressor-rich, I'm back to ATV engines. That's a Honda Rincon motor I'm rebuilding for a buddy. I HATE working on the Rincon. I've rebuilt several Ranchers and Foremans (Foremen?) over the last couple years, but Honda made the Rincons to have as much as possible, in the smallest possible spot. Nothing is easy to do on this thing. Same guy that gave me the MitM. Been friends since childhood and no way I'm gonna make him pay $100/hour to the Honda shop to fix this thing, so I'll tear into it in the next day or two.
My Jeeps have been VERY neglected lately.
