glad your home

rodney,

glad to hear things went fairly well and hope the results and oncologist appt goes well. keep us posted on your progress.

there is certainly no place like home when you aren't feeling well. glad you are back home quickly.

Ahh...your thyroid is highly overrated anyway. Just like on our rigs, if you don't "need" it loose it (extra stuff just gets in the way). Glad things went well...hope recovery progresses as planned...keep us informed.

Just got back home from gettng the high dose 'ablation' pill now (my onclogist does it as outpatient, so I didn't have to do my isolation in the hospital) and have myself setup in the extra bedroom with my computer (rebuilt it with a Core2Duo last week), mini-fridge, microwave and pre-cooked the last of my low iodine dinners last night (I've been on a low iodine diet to prepare for the ablation...no iodized salt, no seafood, no dairy, no whole eggs just whites, no prepared/pre-packaged/restaurant/fast foods, only 6 ounces of meat each day which I have to get from a butcher shop to insure no additives, bread has to come from a bakery so I know what's in it...but I can have all the booze I want ;) )...I can eat normally again starting with lunch on Thursday...trying to decide what my first few tasty meals will be. I haven't had a donut, cookie, pizza, cheeseburger or french fry in almost a month...

But on the upside, you still had beer. I have heard that you can survive on that alone...

Personally, I would go for a huge pan of lasagna...

Hey Rodney, i've been keeping up with yours posts and been praying for you. Glad to hear things are moving along even if it is a bit of a pita.
Keep us posted!

hang in there, Rodney! Good luck with the ablation!

Might I suggest a big fat T-bone steak dinner, with a giant ice cream sundae for dessert?;)

Hehehe...unfortunately with the lowered metabolism from lack of thyroid hormones a 2 year old could probably drink me under the table right now.

Ooh, excellent choice. My next door neighbor makes a killer lasagna, maybe I can talk him into whipping one up for me.

Thanks a ton. I should be near the end of the tunnel. Follow-up scan next Tuesday to make sure I'm clear, then we start working on my dosing.

Thanks...definitely hanging in there. Eveyone's thoughts and prayers have been a blessing. I'm actually a bit tired of steak (finishing off a nice 1.5" thick ribeye right now) but definitely miss the trimmings...now the sundae, ooh yeah...everything on that was on the no-no list (did I mention no chocolate?). I think a giant hot fudge & strawberry sundae with a mound of whipped cream and a couple of cherries on top is in order.

Rodney,
I've been off the "8" for about 6 months because of my move to Colorado, etc. I wasn't aware of your situation, so all I can offer is prayer for your continued health down the road, which you will get, not only from me but from this great group around here. Still the best around, IMHO. My wife had her thyroid removed and over about 6 months, the docs got the dosage right and she's doing great now. God Bless medical science. It's great to live in America!

Rodney,

It is good to hear you are moving along and things are successful. You have continued in the Massey household prayers. I don't know if you care for it but several good chunks of peanut brittle will bring those sodium levels back up :D

Glad to hear you're doing well. You're still in my prayers.

Oh...I've been doing your share of all the foods and beer that you've been missing:D !

One more big push, guys. Going for my 6 month scan this afternoon (FDA approved thyrogen for scan & ablation prep in December, so I didn't have to go off my meds and go hypothyridic, just had to do the diet...much easier this time around)

In our prayers...and hoping for the best...

Hoping for the Best Rodney.

Got a little issue with the father in Law here so I really do hope that yours works out.

I hope the tests come out well for you, Good Luck.

No signs of anymore cancer, but I still have more thyroid tissue left in my neck than they would like to see. It didn't 'light up' as much this time as the last scan, so that means that it is being supressed, so instead of nuking me again now, we're going to wait and do another scan in 6 months and see how things look. I was hoping to get a year in between the next scan so I'd have a decent amount of time to find a new job and get through the insurance elimination period, but you can't always get what you want... We'll see what pans out over the next couple of months. Thanks guys.
