You have got to be kidding, most people over 30 remember what a CJ is and know that a CJ is not a TJ longer or not. Maybe you guys running around with full soft tops are more likely to be mistaken for modern run of the mill DC production ;)

Clueless

Most people don't know what I'm driving...go figure:D

usually it's the other way around...I tell people that it's a scrambler, then they mention that "Jeep is making them again, right?" So I tell them about the unlimited, nice vehicle, but not a scrambler!

Does'nt the unlimited have square headlights kind like this?

z:D
we gotta do lunch or dinner again..

:D :D :D

Well Jeff....the "Scrambler" letters on the side of the hood pretty much make it hard to mistake...even though they are old and faded.

And also...being in my line of work...intelligence is never presumed until proven otherwise!!! :p :D

Hey, I'm ready for lunch/dinner anytime you are. I still have to meet Kate, and you need to meet Carol! Maybe a BBQ at my place next time!

Well I answered never, but it happened today at Camp Jeep. The fool looked at me driving and asked "how I liked my Unlimited?"

I looked at him and said, "I don't know, I've never driven one. This is a Scrambler....with more room." He then figured it out.

unlimited

yeah, the full soft top, no stickers, and new paint are what fools most of the fools. it's happened to me 3-5 times.

Numerous people have asked me if this is the "New, longer Jeep?" The first time was in January as I pulled up to the Las Vegas Hilton. A Limo driver stopped and asked me if....Perhaps it's because my 8 looks new?? More likely it's because Californians are so strange.

Unlimited vs. Scrambler

Well heres my opinion, Since I am a former Scrambler Owner and now a Unlimited Owner I can tell the difference. I really loved my Scrambler and regreted selling it. My Unlimited is not a Scrambler and the Scrambler is not a Unlimited. Sorry Guys, I like the Unlimited better than I did My Scrambler. How ever you guys have great Jeeps and I can never say anything bad about Scramblers.:D

I can hear it now....."Hey dude how'd you get that new unlimited so rusty already.."

Someday my Scrambler will move under it's own power...Then we will see what happens....

happened several times at CJeep

I had a for sale sign on my scrambler at camp jeep. And had one guy say "Man selling it already?".

And most others than walked by had to eventually tell them it was not an unlimited. It is even more compounded by the fact that they now offer the TJ's and unlimited in this same color that I painted mine.

So.. all the more reason to sell this one and start building the my next Scrambler. And yes.. EVERYONE.. this next one will have ROUND headlights. (tisk tisk).. but you will need to look closely at the grill when I am done with it...

:+)

ALL THE TIME. Drives me nuts. We really do need to come up with a bumper sticker solution. The weirdest was a couple looking at my Scrambler outside a restaurant. They were deciding whether or not to buy one (thinking it was an Unlimited).

Ok I was at the car wash hosing out the mud and goo from the mud pit at the national when i got home, had two people come up to me first one says " I didn't think they made the unlimited back then" So i corrected him, second guy, owner of the carwash picking up his hard earned quarters, haha, not hearing the previous conversation, says looks great but how did you go about stretching the frame and tub so good, it looks like a profesional limo company worked on that, once i quit laughing, i corrected him as well, sometimes the elegance of owning an 8 is the appeal that some people just have no clue what you really have.

Heh yeah I was sitting at the light today right next to a jeep dealership and they had a bright red unlimited sitting out front.Suffice to say that the father and son in the station waggon next to me looked awfully confused when they looked at the unlimited and then at my 8 with the hard top on.Back when I had my rag top on I had some one sitting at the light next to me ask me if I extended the tail on the jeep my self or had it professionally done heh.

Scrambler vs. Unlimited

Slpbear

I saw your post and am very interested in what you had to say about the unlimited.
You being an owner now of the unlimited and previous owner of a Scrambler can you share some more of what you have found good and bad with both vehicles?

I'm just starting to look at purchasing my first jeep and really like the cj8 Scrambler looks in the photo's on this site and other sites.
I do need a daily driver so the idea of a late model jeep vs. an older one is appealling.

More information from someone like yourself who has been there and done that would be appriciated.

I drove a 2005 unlimited yesterday with cloth top.
I hope to drive a cj8 (for the first time) soon to do some comparsions.

Thanks
Ron D
