2010 National Scramble: June 24-26th, Sparta TN

Just Payed up. Looks like I will be making it with my son and a friend of his.

Just after the event we will be heading back to Va. to go to Boy Scout Camp. So I will have my fill of camping out for a little while. Jeep and trailer should be pretty full too.

Carl

We getting so excited about making our second Nats in a row, we went ahead and loaded up today to get ready. Since we are dropping Stephanie off at Clemson on the way home and she refuses to be at Clemson without a car, we had to make some compromises.

I would have loved to make it this year BUT my local jeep club has a ride at Sicily island LA this same weekend, and it will be my last ride with my current trail rig 1978 CJ-7, which was my daily driver for about 5 years (while I was at Mississippi State) and my current trail rig for the past 5 years since. I cant miss one last ride in it:confused:

I will definitely make next years event, hopefully in my current project Scrambler. If its not ready by then i will take my stock Sherwood Green '83:thumbsup:

Cool down time in the pool at the Country Inn, Clayton Okla after a hard day of wheeling. This sure doesn't suck.

my jeep got broked!

dang it... 200 miles shy of not needing to do a brake job. i bought a dana44 from a scoutII and was planning to build it when i got back home from TN since i knew my dana30 needed some attention but i couldnt bear putting any money into it. <FRUSTRATING TEETH GRINDING>

the brakes on my rig were pretty rouch when i bought from toby in 2003... 30,000 miles later and many water crossings and mud pits have left my front brakes 'scary'. scary as in you can start to see the fins of the rotor through the wheel windows. and i had about about and 1/8" of material left on my brake pads... an 1/8" of steel that is... the brake material has been long gone.

i know this doesnt make me look very competent at caring for my vehicles... but now its all good... brand new rotors are on the hubs, new seals and bearing are repacked with synth. currently waiting on calipers from NAPA that are coming in from indianapolis... be here on tuesday. thanks to some previous owner swapping cherokee brakes on it otherwise i would have had this done yesterday. i hate how close it is to the wire and my jeep is on jackstands.

good news though, my WJ just got an ADDCO rear sway bar (thanks dad), an aux HD trans cooler, and a brake controller so i can get down there safe!

here i come sparta!

here i come sparta!

Got done with my aluminum radiator install around 2AM Friday night and left to go to a show to meet Kevin (revho) on the other side of the state at 8 AM Sat morning. Everything seems good (knock on wood) and made it to the show and back with no problems, 240 miles round trip, doing 80 on the highway

One thing I need to try to do is seal up the twin stick shifter boot and the stock boot I cut. Currently the twin boot is just sticking up through a hole in the stock boot and they're not attached/sealed together. This MUST change. It lets HOT air pour into the cab... We were boiling with the sides/back in the soft top even with the windows unzipped and the fan on high. The idea of 5 hours in those conditions doesn't thrill me at all (breaking up trip to TN into 5 hours halves by going into our main office in Cinci in the middle on both trips).

ONLY 10 MORE DAYS

Man I can't wait. I'm also doing my usuall of last minute things. I decided I wanted 3" racing belts and harness, so I ordered them on the 10th they're supposed to be here today plus I had to order a support bar for my cage from RockHard 4X4 to attach the harrness to and it should be here sometime this week. OH LAST MINUTE PROCRASTINATORS!!!:D:banghead::thumbsup::cheers::cheers::cheers:
