Still just doing little details on here.

The skid plate is modified for the deeper pan.



Coolant overflow is done. I had to take the spiral site glass off and replace it with a regular one. There was too much surface tension in the plastic tube and it wouldn't flow the coolant.


I also had to add a relay to the BCM power so it doesn't drain my battery. For some reason it won't go to "sleep mode". The guy at White Auto and Media that programmed my instrument cluster won't reply to emails............so this is my "temporary" solution.

Not to much update, bathroom remodel going on in the house.

Skid plates are all back on.

The season of driving it is back :bacon::bacon::bacon:

Took it for the first cruise yesterday.

We are heading out for spring break that week. Taking the motorhome on the first trip outside of Michigan. we will be in Maryland for a few days, checking out the wild horses. Then over to Williamsburg for a few days. So no opening weekend for me :banghead: but still should be good family time, I've never been all the way to the East coast.

Been cruising the scrambler...........when the roads are dry

Had a tuning glitch that took a bit to figure out, but it's running great now.

The "bump" I kept feeling on wide open, dead stop, blacktop takeoff was the front tire coming off the ground :headbang:

This next mod isn't really needed yet this time of year. Looking ahead to this summer I'm looking for ways to keep the inside cooler, since my AC isn't installed at this point. One place of heat generated is the heater core. With the newer motors you can't just "shut off" the coolant to heater core. It is a bypass. So I went on the interwebs searching for a bypass valve. They're out there...............for a not so small nominal fee. Then I found this vacuum valve off a Ford Ranger........for $12 on ebay.



Since I don't have vacuum controls. I'm converting it to cable. I had a bicycle cable laying on the shelf. Next step was to cut off the hose nipple and drill that hole out to the cable size. Then I drill through the diaphragm and the actuator arm. That gave me a place to route the pull cable.





The plan is to run the cable inside and attach the end to the temperature arm with a spring. That way when I push the temp all the way in it will close the bypass and no 200 degree coolant flowing into the cab...........to be continued after spring break

On ebay you can get cable operated valves, doing the same bypass. If didn't trust the plastic ones on got the metal ones. Used in the cj7, (have one mounted in the first cj8 build tread). Worked great, no more heat leaking past the damper doors (I even rebuilt the heater box and the heat would soak through the box). On the cj7 last fall I installed a vintage air setup. They use a control valve to control the coolant going through the heater core. When heat is shut off it shuts the heat off completely (like your doing). You'll like it in summer. Can also use it to limit the coolant in the heater core on nights when you want just a little warmth and not have to play with getting the damper doors set perfect (to control heat).

I found the metal cable operated ones on Ebay. Not sure how I missed them the first time.........since that is what I was looking for :banghead:

Now I have to decide which one to use. This is where I ask myself why I didn't post up ask the pro's on CJ-8.com :bow:

Looks awesome. heading up to Dunes Friday for 5 or 6 days. working the hill climb Saturday & Sunday mornings. You heading up? :shrug:

Pitbulls were fine, they worked great. Just not that street friendly. I had 37" Toyo's I ran on the street, so swapping tires on a regular basis got old. And the new motor has great low end, so the taller rubber helped my MPG's :thumbsup:
