I look on local Craigslist from time to time, never seems to be much CJ stuff anymore. One night I was going thru the ads...nothing, then I saw this ad that said " 70's Jeep frame". I scanned thru it, almost scrolled past then at the very end said " it fits a Jeep Scrambler". I called the number that had been listed for 2 weeks. A guy answers and I ask him if he still has the frame. He said, " yea your the first call I've had". After him convicing me over the phone that he knew what a scrambler was and this was a scrambler frame, I headed on a 2 HR drive with a friend and scored this solid frame for $500 bucks. Now honestly I was so excited to get this frame that was pretty solid I hadnt paid that much attention to all that came with it. It had a complete 258 that all machine work had been done plus all the parts to rebuild, new in the box. It had a complete good wiring harness, a T-176/ Dana 300, both drive shafts. I swear I about fell over when the guy kept bringing out boxes of parts. I did give him more than he had asked. He said, " I've been haggled to no end on stuff but NEVER has anyone paid more than I asked" lol. I told him I really needed every bit of this and it was really going to help me out.
Now after buying this, I also bought another frame from Carter Chandler from the from the forum a week later. Good things come in bunches I guess. All I can say is I've been blessed! Thank you Lord!

Hell factory wheels too! Helluva score!

Edited to add....are those Warn hubs on the front? Let me guess....the axles will be 3.54's or 3.73's with ARBs in them too.....

Super jealous.

To be honest I hadn't noticed the hubs, the gearing very well could be 3.54's. Out of the 7 Jeeps I have owned 5 have had 3.54's. I just knew for sure my '81 Scrambler that was factory 4cyl would have had 4.11's nope, 3.54.
I've been working alot and busy with things at home when I wasn't working. I'm dieing to work on this.

I offered him $50, he accepted. Was told that came on a trailer that he purchased and he didn't need it. It actually works just fine....has the Jeep sticker too.
That is a score. Wonder if there are any replacement stickers floating around any longer? Not that you even need it.

My advice - don't crack it open unless it has a leak. As tempting as it might be to "rebuild" it, it's more than likely fine.

I was going to put my steps up for sale but my wife seems to think she needs them.

I have a great set of steps I've considered selling also, but I might need them in my old age so I can put my soft top on.

The gut punch.

Found a running 258 and T176 for $200. My buddy needed it so we went and picked it up tonight.

The gut punch? My buddy decided the best place to store it was in the frame rails of my failed CJ7 project.... lol!!!
