Bolted down the tub so I could start fitting some of the items i need to weld together and on the frame just to be sure everything is going to fit. Tub is on, cross-member is started but fighting back pretty hard, did some dry fitting of the tube fenders, and as soon as they are on I should be able to figure out the shock hoops for the front and back.
JeeperDD came up to give me a hand on the Scrambler today. Got a lot of stuff done, i had a bunch of fabrication items that needed a second set of hands and someone to bounce things off to get finished. We managed to assemble my tube fenders kit, and figure out my cross-member. We were able to get the transmission and transfer case as high as possible without major body modifications and engine mount re work. I think it came out great and will only need the skid plate to be about 2 inches below the frame rails.
I didn't get a chance to take any pictures today but JeeperDD did a good job documenting the progress. Long day but great to get some of these items knocked off the list. Huge thanks to JeeperDD never would have been able to get it done without his help.
I built a very similar cross member on my Stump Jumper Scrambler and I can't tell you how many people told me it wouldn't work. That was over 3,000 miles ago and I'm now pushing 400 hp and doing great.
After JeeperDD came up and gave me a hand last week the last thing that needs to be welded to the frame are the shock hoops then i can final paint and coat the inside. So I ordered shocks and have been measuring and measuring trying to get ready to weld the hoops on.
High steer arms came in and got installed today. Also upgraded the kingpin bushing to brass. Now to weld up the shock towers and add some plates to the rear spring hangers as CHIEFWAHOO suggested and the frame should be ready for the engine to come back out and some paint.
