Feb 28th I came and had to tell my prettier half I got let go,parted ways, terminated, fired, fired the boss man . . . pick one. New feeling to me never been there before. To my amazement she was happy to the point of damn near giddy . . . new feeling number two. After some discussion she pointed out how truelly miserable I had been for years . . . damnit she is usually right. I spent the last 6 years of my life working 3-11 aka phone call to question mark doing what i thought was right . . . go to work make good money and provide for your family. Heres the ***** of it all . . . in that time I never saw them.
i spent the better part of the last year trying to find a day job with pay that would be acceptable. Turned a couple down along the way.
After all that time and a near fatal accident 4 years ago . . . new plant manager comes in and decides he wants me off the books. As long as i work there thay have to pay me a sum every month . . . kinda saw this one coming. I long for the days where hard work and honesty actually ment something. So for now I will continue to go to every interview feeling like Im whoring myself out for the next paycheck while trying to figure out how the hell Im gonna explain my (reason for leaving):banghead:

Thanks for listening

Sean

That sucks Sean. Good luck. And keep the spirits high. I really hope that something better comes to you soon. I would absolutely hate to be in your position.

That sucks Sean! :banghead: I know you were miserable on afternoons...

You will come out the winner here though! Take your time off to regroup, and enjoy some things you've been missing with family. Your background & experience will prevail & get you that DAYSHIFT job!

Gimme a call sometime...

The fact that you haven't seen your family for the last six years seems like a valid reason to be seeking employment elsewhere. Potential employers will respect the fact that you value family time. Keep us posted.

So sorry to hear that, I had a scare on this last July-Aug, it sucks.

I wouldn't worry about explaining your termination at your last job, being downsized is very common now. The way to go into a new interview is that you're hungry for and ready for the work.

Hopefully you can find something that's more agreeable in function and timing. :fingerscrossed:

Good luck- I feel your pain and uncertainty...I'm in your same shoes. Mine was just a week before you. Funny how our wives could see what we were trying to hide... I guess the comforting part of having a steady job, even if it wasn't "ideal", is knowing that there was an order to things, a steady check and insurance, and stability at home. Your comment on looking for a new job hit the nail on the head. I told my wife that this is my chance to finally do something fulfilling that I'm passionate about, and she supports me 100%. If that's being my own boss, or finding a truly great job, I don't know yet, although for me, the first option looks pretty attractive.

Well, good luck to you, keep us posted on your situation.

Thanks for the support guys I truely do appreciate it. Heading Wed for 2nd interview with a local company. $ is good but hours stink just like the last one. Im knocking on doors and calling in a few favors along the way and things are looking pretty good. Just really want to get back to work,my family is working the hell out of me. LOL I admit I dont sit still well. Remodeled 2 bathrooms,my moms kitchen,3 brake jobs, lifted a ZJ,did a clutch job on a yota, fixed my uncles, brat and van . . . will someone please hire me so I can relax a lil! LOL

Holding out for a day job if all else fails I take the night job to pay the bills and keep looking.

Thanks again for listening to me vent a bit and all the support. This is truely a great bunch of people.

Hey brother. Wishing you the best. Times are hard right now for sure. I'm out of work do to an injury (outside of work) and might be losing my job as well. I could rant on the directiopn our country is going:banghead: but that won't do much good so I'll shut my hole. I've actually contacted my old college and may be going back to finish at 37. That should be interesting! I'm sorry you're going through this. I don't have a family to worry about and can only imagine the stress you're feeling. Keep your head high, spirits up, and try to be as positive as possible. It sounds like you, and others, have loving, supporting wives. Take comfort in that. It is a blessing. Hope it all works out for you. Sending a prayer your way.

hang in there

I wish you the best of luck.Hang in there and hopefully the right thing will come along soon that you and your family can work around. I'm just about to the point of making a decision to leave where i'm at in next few years, wife says she's not moving or supporting my hobby, so for now i'm going to keep working where i am i like my hobby alot more than my job lol...........have another job waiting in another state if i do retire...........so decisions will have to be made shortly on where i end up.........

Good Luck with it Sean. I too was laid off rescently...February 18th to be exact. It took me a good while of searching to find anyone that would even contact me in person. I expanded my job search to include the entire continental United States (and was almost at the point of including Alaska). Well, I was lucky enough to be contacted for a job in Denver where my wife and I have some long time friends. Long story short, I got the job and we are moving out there soon and we can't be happier.

This is going to be a great change for my family and being laid off is looking more and more like a blessing in disguise for me. Here's to hoping that your job "situation" works out for your benefit in the end too.

. . . . I expanded my job search to include the entire continental United States (and was almost at the point of including Alaska). . . .

Last time I checked, Alaska was, in fact, part of the North American Continent.

(I have nothing useful to add here.)

... I've actually contacted my old college and may be going back to finish at 37....

You might be surprised at how many of us in our late 30's went back to school to get a little more education. Technology is changing fast, got to keep up with the future or you get run over.

Good Luck!

Rob

Jobs??

Sorry to hear about your situation. Hard to see through it now, but I know lots of people say this after they have walked through the "mud", "that was the best thing that ever happened to me of loosing xyz job".

Some of its a little cheesy but the overall message is actually really good. He's got a book, and I recommend it. If you want and would read it, I'll mail you my copy.

Sean, i've been out of work for almost a year and half and it really stinks but all i can say is it's only a job. i had to reread your post a few times...at first i thought you and your prettier half had parted ways and my heart sank, divorce REALLY sucks. SO it's kinda good to hear you just lost your job. It's all in your perspective! Good luck and hang tough, it can only get better!

Thanks for all the support and kind words guys. Fisherman(chris) of all the variables in my life the prettier half (Kay) is the one constant I have and for that Im grateful. One thing about having bad women is it will make you appreciate a good woman that much more.:thumbsup:I put the lift up and just started working at home recently, made some decent money.:woot:
Got a call from a headhunter aka staffing company last week. Had phone interview that went very well last Friday. Employer was so anxious they sent somerone to my house to talk more. Guess thats a good sign but has to have been the wierdest job interview I have ever had. LOL
Going to meet with them again tomorrow, this feels like a good fit so far.:fingerscrossed: Gonna have to commute about 28 miles one way though. . . anybody got geo metro for sale? LOL

Well this is a deep post that has nuttin' to do with Jeeps. But having been divorced & now happily remarried for over 22 years, your family it the true butter on your bread of life even more than a Jeep (GASP!). The biggest thing is your wives knew you were unhappy but working to put bread on the table for your family. This is an opportunity and the kool thing is your wife & you are on the same page. A job is good, but only for a time- family is for life & beyond! Keep moving forward & keep that relationship with your wife hot. Still surprise her often. Good luck with the job hunt.:woot:

Sorry to hear the job news, Sean. Keep your chin up and have a positive attitude; things happen for a reason, though it may take a while to discern it. You have a lot of friends here pulling for you and your family. Good luck with this new job 'nibble.'
