Project "AZZ DRAGGER"

Nice work ! How much below the frame rail will the transfer case be sitting?

z

It hangs down about 3.5" Not bad considering theres a NV4500 with no body lift!!! Man that transmission is TALL!!!

Lookin' great! Glad to have stumbled across your NV install too! I'm with you on the body lift thing but I don't know if I have a choice for mine. If my tub was a little more rusty/beat up I prob. wouldn't care. But since I'm running a doubler and cable shifters between my NV and the Dana, The shifter mount on the t-case hits dead on the body channel on the pass side (the channel runs F to Back). I've looked at it multiple times and even if I hacked the channel I wouldn't clear. So its either body lift or major floor surgery for me. :( Love how you did your cross member... may be stealing that for mine. Go Klingons!!!!!

Nice thing about how I did the cross member is that I can remove the t-case without having to remove the cross member. :D

sleepy...

Ok... So I just killed Monday night rereading you thread. I know this goes back a little but could you offer some more info on how you did the latch for your swing out? Is it a bear claw latch? Off of what or for what? What about the striker? Pics would be good too please! :)

I guess its time for an update...

Been working my a$$ off trying to get this done before Sand Blast... many set backs and many parts orders. FedEx guy is visiting me alot now.

Installed Lokar throttle cable. These are awesome! I ended up cutting my old 4.0L throttle cable and used the end that attaches to the throttle pedal, put it on the lokar TC and cut the TC to length and DONE!! easy as pie..

Finished the PSC power steering install. I was lucky that the pump from my old engine bolts right up to the 5.3l, just had to swap the pulleys. Made a mount for the reservoir and made up new lines for it.

Working on exhaust now. I copied Randyzzz basic design (except mine is run on the drivers side)

Looks great! I like the quick disconnect- I couldn't get one of those quick enough when I was doing mine, so I used a three-bolt flange and a copper gasket. Yours is 100% better.

Your shackle reversal is giving me ideas...

Same answers...

Its a latch from a new Poison Spyder tire carrier. Not available to the public but I bugged Larry McRea (owner) enough that he sold me one.
Its basically a universal door latch for a hot rod (bear claw and pin) and PS made the mounts.

LOL! Toooooo Funny! Guy on ExpoPortal build a super bumper for a Grand Cherokee and I bugged him about the PS latch deal. I then bugged one of the PS Vendors on Military Jeepers and offered the suggestion of them offering it as a stand alone kit like this. They declined and said they don't offer it just like you heard. I finally learned what that latch was actually called and the search was on! :) Now that i know what I am googling I can build my own. I may have been offered the same thing as you but at this point I respect their proprietary aspect and will try something either similar or go a way different route based on something I turned up in the dumpster here in Germany. :)

thats exactly what I got from them (just not the spindle and bearings, got those from Comp 4x4)

I actually bought my own bear claw latches off of ebay and was going to make my own latch setup, but I'm getting tired of spending hours building stuff that if relatively cheap to buy. I value my time as much as my money, if i spend 5 hours to make something that costs $100, I didnt save anything.

I still have to modify the PS latch housing to work on my bumper. Nothing is ever bolt on on my Jeep, even if its supposed to be bolt on.

Another update...

Got mounting brackets tig welded to my Griffin Radiator... (thats not me welding...)

Got clutch linkage all figured out and working perfect..
New parts vs Stock parts

IMG_1294-1.jpg

shortened the linkage by 1 3/4"

Got the grill done today... Fabbed up a rad guard out of expanded metal. Installed Hella "supertone" horns (LOUD!!!) and installed the radiator.

Do you have the part number for the Griffin Radiator?
Where did you buy it?
thanks greg

I got it from Summit. Part # CU-58202-01 $433 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/GRI-CU-58202-01
Its a combo kit that includes a fan and aluminum shroud. The fan that comes with the kit is VERY thick. There is no way it would work in a Jeep with a 4.2L or 4.0L. It actually didnt work with my set up. I had to get a different fan but thats because I cheated the drivetrain ahead a couple inches so I wouldnt have to get new driveshafts made.

Awesome!:woohoo: Getting closer to adding sand! :bacon::bacon::bacon:

Sorry to keep flogging the proverbial deceased equine... Do you have pics or a model/link to the BC latch you ordered before the PS kit? I was looking at the junkyard today at different styles and not really sure what I need to be looking for. :)

Thank you sir!
Love the exhaust work on the Jeep...bet it sounds yummy! Be careful with that radiator cap...I've known some folks to have issues with them. Just a word of caution. :)
On a curious note, why did you stay with mechanical linkage for the clutch instead of Hydro?
