The global warming types will tell you that part of the global warming phenomenon also causes extreme winter cold. So they'd use this to support their position, just FYI.

I usually don't take to non-Jeep related topics in the forum but the belief that global warming is not real is based in ignorance. The below report is extensively vetted and researched.

"A team of more than 300 experts guided by a 60-member Federal Advisory Committee produced the report, which was extensively reviewed by the public and experts, including federal agencies and a panel of the National Academy of Sciences.'

OK... here are some more pics... normally I am not one of those guys that say we have to "remain on topic", but Global Warming is a no win topic... like politics and religion... not to be discussed in Jeep metal replacement threads ;)

Got in some time last night (24 degrees... balmy actually compared to what I have been working in).

I got a lot of the fitting on the new cross member support and on the side I had already completed, noticed it needed some more weld points, so put in some screws to hold it.
I have a little more fine tuning, and then the rear floor piece I have to cut in and shape into place.
Once that is done, screw it all together and weld her up.

Once that is done, flip it over, and weld from the "top down" and then replace that back step up piece with new metal... new mounts for the cage legs... fit to the frame, move 2 body mounts (YJ bolt holes vs. Scrambler ones from the old setup)... mount it solid, then start to close the back in... also rebuild the 304... plenty to do.

My finger has a cramp from just thinking about all of those 1,000's of spot tacks. That's a ton of work already done and the hard part at that. Keep on rockin'!

I sanded down some of the surface rust on the firewall and tried out a few colors to see what I want to go colorwise... I am thinking yellow, just not sure yet.

It can't be white/orange/silver/red/garnet/green/black... and I want to do a retro scheme on it...so have to do some more thinking... dark blue was an idea as well.

Since when is a 60 member Federal advisory committee considered a team of experts?
 
Had a seven that was dark blue with nutmeg . Loved that JEEP. That is an amazing amount of commitment you have to bringing that tub back! Looking great!

Please re-read the whole quote. It does not state that the 60 member Federal Advisory Committee was a team of experts. It states the report that produced by 300 experts guided by the 60 member Federal Advisory Committee was reviewed by the public and experts.

Ignorance is bliss but unfortunately in this case, ignorance of this issue is the opposite of bliss.

BTW, future economic growth will be underpinned by the products which can help reduce the rate of climate change.


I'm done, sorry again for the tangent, feel free to delete these side tangent comments from an otherwise fantastic post on a remarkable project.
 
Welding a bit and some new repair pieces came in for when I flip this thing over.
The good news is now that everything is tacked in place for the most part... finish welding/grinding coming up next.

and finally ... my happy place... garage door was open to air out the garage after welding... it was about 33 degrees... still cold, but workable.

I couldn't agree more. Global climate change is just that. Change on a global scale. The Chinese understand how important an economic driver that climate change will be and are way ahead of the curve. BTW, I call dibs on last post related to this tangent :thumbsup:

As always a great thread. It would be cool if you could someday do a time lapse of one of your projects.
 
Picked up a set of wide tracks... 3.54, nice and clean for the most part... need to swap out the axles and inner parts.
2.73 to 3.54 will be a nice upgrade for little money.
Also, 304 w/T176 behind it and 33's should make for good drivability all around.

Fantastic job ! You are doing great work. Very few can do sheet metal work like that anymore ! ESPECIALLY in the cold. Stay patient, summer is on the way and it will be hot again. The earth is always in a changing cycle :)
 
Axle teardown and some strange hubs... I have owned many... many... many Jeeps and first time I have seen the lowers of stock and the outers of aftermarket.
Still can't put a center cap on them.
