SJScrambler - Getting Started

Last night after that thrash to tear down the Jeep... inadvertent message from AMC centered in the shot...

I got a lot of things moved around.
I learned that the inside of the CJ10 top is different than the Scrambler one and the cage isn't fitting.

It is a couple inches short due to the collars on the Scrambler cage hitting the metal supports in the cab.
I will have to see what I can do about making that work... or maybe continue with plan A and use the Scrambler half top with it, but then there will be a gap in the rear that I have to deal with as the fiberglass humps up in the middle... so I have to sleep on it a big.

I moved the crossmember back as well and will try to stab in the drivetrain sometime this week.
I have to mock all this up and make sure it all looks good.

So, finally got some time after a big NJ trip to see Jersey and cleaning up for winter to get this thing moved out and starting to tear down for the new cab...

The remainder of CJ10 parts are for sale... the half cab is for sale as well from the Scrambler, has a factory slider in it, the cab as well... just need to get it broken down.

That new nose is growing on me color wise.

Good use of that Laredo nose from the CJ7. I really like that color, one of my all time favorites.

So is your truck tub longer than the CJ10 tub? If so, then maybe the CJ10 tub should be for your next project?

no, the cage fits fine inside the CJ10 cab, but the tops are different... but the overall length seems to be an inch or 2 different... so I have to get it all mocked up and check body mounts, etc.... and see what it all looks like.

CJ10a cab and Top!

I vote modify the cage to fit. Everything you do is top notch, no sense cutting corners here. But then again, that is just my opinion, and it really counts for nada.

Yeah, I will make it all work... it will need a new one piece floor as well to work with the CJ frame vs. the 10 frame... there are diffferent mounts and such.

Basically the floor needs repair in a variety of places, so swapping a full CJ7 floor in there will get me all the mounts and new steel...then I can do the lower cage reinforcement plates and then cut/bend to fit.

Just more work than I was hoping... I was hoping it will be close enough tot he Scrambler top to bolt in.

Dropped the engine in last night to make sure it fit in the TDK frame extension.. a little tight with the skid plate, but finally got it in there... cab time soon.

Need to get it all mocked up first before we start tearing into things.
Engine needs gaskets all around and the tranny leaks like a sieve.

There is a new full floor on the way for the cab. Although it looks ok, the bracing underneath isn't great and whoever sat in the sat must have been a big boy (not that I am one to talk) cause all of the mounts are broken and cracked.

Being a CJ10a, and meaning it was used as an Airforce tug all of it's life, I bet it was a matter of young guns jumping in and out constantly. I'd wager the average seat time was less than 1 mile between seat changes. Kinda like the low mileage dodge dart swingers that accumulated all those miles 1/4 at a time. Might be low miles, but they are all real hard low miles.

Hold the front door! What a switcheroo! So that tub you spent all that time on is for sale? This could make working 72 hrs a week worth it ?

By the way I just saw a 84 Post hole digger Cj7 on Facebook n Bethlehem CT. For like $2000. Just an FYI

I put the stuff up on CL the other day with the old tub jeep cj10 project in NH didn't want to post a link in here as I think it isn't allowed will put it in 3rd party sales later
