I'll put you on the list for the next run. I took the modified pattern to the foundry today. When I get a casting from it, I'll work on it to make the new pattern that I'll use.
 
After three years of chasing vibrations, finally got off my ass and swapped tires and wheels:

Looks like $hit, but drives 100% smooth, no vibrations. So, yeah, found the problem. Boo, pretty sure the NTB won't replace a defective tire because they are three years old. Maybe 1000 miles on them. Pretty sure BFG will balk, too.

I dropped all five tires and wheels off with them today, to "inspect/rebalance". I'll see what they come back with.

If they don't make it right, well, both companies just lost a customer. I have purchased at least six sets of BFG's over the last 10 years, probably 10 sets of tires from NTB. I know I'm just a small fish in a big pond, but I can also take my money elsewhere :twocents:
 
This Jeep has 3.31 gears, T5, MPI, and 31" tires. My temporary replacements:

I really like the extra responsiveness of the smaller tires. Unfortunately, I am sitting a little too high for them. In the future, I will probably re-gear this Scrambler to 3.73. It doesn't struggle with the 3.31's, but I know I would like the "feel" of deeper gears.

I worked at NTB my last year of being a mechanic. The warranty (at least back then) was free replacement the first year, then pro rated each year after that for up to I THINK 5 years. Tread depth also mattered. I doubt they will give you a new tire after 3 years (they might) but they should be able to at least give you a very strong discount. We never had an issue doing this for the customer. If they don't want to do anything at the store level, call the district manager. You would not believe the crap they would discount/give away if a customer complained above the store level. Good luck.

That saying reminds me of what my FORMER State Farm agent said to me after many years with him...
"Your policies are just a spit in a five gallon bucket"

The funny thing is I was trying to work with him to understand why his quote for my new vehicle (my 8, see how I brought this somewhat back to topic) was so much higher than online quotes I got.
He said it so matter-a-factly.

Reminds me of my big name insurance carrier. “ You drop coverage on any of your vehicles, we drop the coverage on your house. “ Just about impossible to find insurance coverage these days around here for the house coverages plus hurricane coverage. Almost no one wants new clients or is writing new policies. Sure the state has a last resort coverage but that’s worse. Car coverage in this state is the highest in the nation. By the way, mine is the other big one.
 
The older guy at NTB pulled the tires off the wheels and found no problem with either the tires or wheels. They "RoadForce Balanced" them, again, and gave them back to me. Before they dismounted the tires they checked the balance and said they were all out of balance.

Picked them up/reinstalled them Monday night:

A quick test drive showed a vast improvement in the level of vibration, but there is still some present between 55-65 mph. It is tolerable, but I still do not believe I should be getting this level of vibration from all terrain tires? My tore up/not rebalanced/bent wheel BFG Mud Terrains are smoother than these BFG All Terrains.

If the vibrations continue to aggravate me I will probably just go ahead and bite the bullet and install another set of tires.

Maybe call BFG customer service? It can't hurt. And/or take it to a different place if you're not sure they know what they're doing.
 
I’d pop a bead, strip off the weights, throw some airsoft pellets in and reseat the tires just as a Hail Mary before going to new tires.

Its funny, I have been to four separate shops, and each one says the previous shop did not balance them correctly. I have never had this much problem balancing tires before in my life. Find it hard to believe that all four shops incorrectly balanced the tires, but who knows :shrug:
 
I have the same tires on my blue Scrambler. They are very smooth going down the road. BUT, I had a hell of a time getting them to balance in the first 3 ish thousand miles. I would re balance them once every 700-1000 miles. The road force AND balance was way off every time. It's like they had to "break in" a bit. It was very annoying at first. But after a few thousand miles they drove very smooth and I haven't had to re balance them in a long time. I'll "check" the balance once a year like I do all my stuff, but haven't had to change anything so basically the problem went away.
