TrebleHook's 1983 Scrambler Laredo

well at least you found a good source of parts... you sure that crate in the back isn't full of end caps lol...

Totally swamped with the move to San Diego...but the best news this week: CA Emissions - PASSED! The tester didn't even blink and the numbers were very very low. Good livin'!!

Congrats on passing the CA emissions.

Any updates or recent pics of the Scrambler?

Nice! That was always a stressful time when we lived in Cali. When we moved I specifically checked that there was no emission testing in our new location.

Alright folks...I've been simply stalking the forum for the last few months. Between work and kids and life it's been nuts out here in SoCal. Best news is that I've been driving the snot out of the Scrambler. Turned over 60k on the odometer. The weather just makes it impossible not to want to drive it to work everyday.

Big Jeep news is that Jeeperdd and I are heading to Easter Jeep Safari in Moab in April. In preparation I finally had the LoMax 4:1 installed in the Dana 300. Kept the original shifter. After chasing a pesky oil leak for a few months, I had the rear main seal and valve cover gasket replaced by the pros. It's running like a top - and leak-free.

Big life news is that we are supposed to be heading to Belgium for 3 years in August....so it looks like the Scrambler is going to live with Dustin in Virginia. It's going to suck to be Jeepless...but it's hard to complain about orders to Europe.

Paint/Wax is holding up well in the CA sun. I applied another coat of wax this weekend and she's looking good.

A few pics....nothing fancy...just proof of life.

Cheers,
Dylan

Your 8 looks great. It's an awesome rig. I've been using it as inspiration for my build.

Fantastic! That is exactly how a Jeep is ment to be used! That is one happy Jeep and a great family!

That's a great looking jeep! Love the 8274 on the front. I'm looking for one for my scrambler but hard to find around here in decent shape.

Rock rails

Well the much anticipated rock rails are on! Ordered them from Rocky-Road. Strangely the place that installed them (M.I.T. Drivetrains, El Cajon, CA) had to cut/mod the plates that mount to the frame because the mounts ended up directly over the spring hangers - weird. I thought they were supposed to be bolt-on ready. Not so much - unless you bolted/welded them un-flush over those obstacles. Something wasn't right - but they're on now! They look like they are off by about 1/8 - 1/4 inch on one side, but they measure perfect from the frame - so it's gotta be that the body is just a touch off center on the frame. Gonna pick Jeeperdd's brain about loosening the body mounts and squaring up the body. Anyway...quick pics.

That's strange, mine bolted right up:confused::shrug:

Looks good:thumbsup::wave:

Looks good! Put a thin strip of grip tape on the top edge, I learned from experience.

Nice looking. Do you have any pictures of how they mount to the frame? I would like to see that if you have them.
