Tide was low so I was able to finish up the framing:
And 90% of the decking back on:
Left a few boards off to better access that one corner pile, I want to reinforce my repair a bit better. Will have to work out a skiff to get to it unless we get a really low tide, or I make some type of RedneckRay coffer dam
Adding one 4" screw to each pier deck board/truss joint to beef everything back up. Will add some 8" - 10" screws to each pile/truss board connection, too (more boat work).
This pier was built in 1991, back when ground contact 2x material was treated with arsenic, and actually lasted. These board are dirty, I could pressure wash them and most would still look fine. This is the main reason I am reusing all this lumber, new pressure treated lumber is crap. The two 12' boards that I had to replace, they connect the pier to the ground based walkway, are marine treated timbers that are arsenic treated, and are actually a hair over 2x8 actual. Only bad thing, those two boards were like $70.00!!! I used normal Home Depot ground contact treated for the center beam, and some stainless steel Simpson joist hangers I found at work.
Guy at work is doing some work on his bulkhead so I am hoping he has some left over marine treated lumber I can snag to finish my repairs!!
