Someone correct me if I'm wrong but OEM 8" wheels would be 9" from bead to bead right?
I restored this Laredo wheel today. These can get really nasty inside. The old foam padding turns to goo and it takes a lot of scraping and mineral spirits to get the mess off. The center steel part always rusts and the spokes are discolored from the original welds, so I mask it off and sand blast it. Then I clean the spokes and shine them up with sand paper and 3M pad. Then the center gets clear enamel so it won't rust again. Now I've got a nice clean, shiny wheel to take to my upholstery bench. The outside rim gets covered with neoprene and then I make up the leather cover and hand stitch it on. Then pad the spokes and hand stitch the spoke covers on. Done. Package it up and it goes out tomorrow. JT, this one is for you!

Looks great! What does a wheel rewrap run? Looks like a great alternative to buying a used 35 year old wheel that likely is dried out anyway.I restored this Laredo wheel today.
