What's on your Work Bench?

Cost in lumber there is approaching the value of the plow. Cost to ship might be more than the value of the plow. Costs are just out of whack now a days.

Attaching all the smaller components inside the crate:

Made a cubby hole for all the smaller parts:

Remembered to pull the pumps drive pulley off the '86's crank:

Put a layer of 3/4" plywood on top first, left over pieces from some recent AC work (had to get/install two new indoor and outdoor AC units):

And finally a top layer of 1/2" OSB:

Crate measure 35" wide, 7' long, 25" high. I would guess the whole thing weighs around 750 pounds. Glad to get this project off the work bench!!!!!

Somehow I’m thinking that 750 lbs. is a little light, Just from my own experience from packing up a Honda XL 500 dirt bike in a wood crate and airfreighting a few decades ago to the Caribbean.

I'm thinking @spankrjs may have, or is going to check his trailer's suspension sag once the blocking is removed to determine the actual weight.
I have to agree I see a lot of weight... just in lumber.
However, it is a very organized and durable storage container.

The 20hp/656cc Briggs and Stratton V-Twin engine on my Dr Brush mower shit the bed today. Made a bunch of cool sounds, quit running, and shot flames out the muffler all at once!!!

Pulled the plugs, no compression on one side. Pulled the rocker cover off the no compression side, valves not moving while turning engine over. Pull the head, the piston does not move either!!

Valves:

Piston:

On the bottom end, guessing the connecting rod broke. The engine still spins over freely and the other cylinder still moves and has compression. As for the valves not working, no idea, unless the camshaft broke. On the no compression side I pushed the piston back down the cylinder with my finger, so it is definitely not doing much of anything!!

Engine is 9 years old, probably 7-800 hours on it. I do not think it would be economically/time feasible to attempt to rebuild this engine. Will probably just buy a new engine, maybe a stronger series. This engine was an Intek series, so kind of middle of the road. Might need to get a more industrial use engine. I am not like the typical user, when I use this machine I will run it 8 to 10 hours straight.

Oh well, the yard gets a break for a little while!!

Working on a few golf carts that hadn’t been used in years. Some new power cables, a new set of batteries mainly and a bit of work on the lights. These supervisors are tough though.

Well after a 2800 mile run in my coach this month I developed some issues. Exhaust manifold gasket leaking. Also small leak in EGR cooler. Several issues
1 I’m certainly not a mechanic
2 I’m not skinny
3 almost no room to get to anything
4 sand blast in couple weeks IMG_6860.jpegIMG_6862.jpeg
9 hours in I got the first of the 3 piece manifold outIMG_6869.jpeg
