What's on your Work Bench?

My wife has been asking for non-slip steps on her Scrambler for awhile. I have some left over peel and stick ice and water barrier that I've been saving for this. Made a quick pattern from an old step, cut them out with some old scissors, and now she has her non-slip steps.

I put the JeepCables 7-wire power wire kit on the kid's XJ, does that count?

My workbench actually has a nearly complete 231 rebuilt on it waiting for me to get around to finishing my 2wd-4wd conversion on the XJ I'm doing for me.

Finally got off my butt and adjusted the idle RPM and running RPM on the Dr Brush mower's new engine, was a huge PIA for me!!!!!

I'll take an automotive carburetor any day of the week over one of these things!!! The way the governor works, basically fighting against/adjusting two connected springs. And of course, the original engines carburetor had a manual choke, the new engine does not, so had to modify the original throttle cable. And, the exhaust runs directly underneath the governor plate, so adjust, reassemble, start engine, burn yourself taking it back off to adjust some more, repeat about 40 times!!!!

I salute anyone who does this for a living, it sucks, especially the first time. I have the engine idle speed at around 1650, run RPM right below the 3600 recommendation, I'm at around 3550. This is using the tachometer that is built into the hour meter. I ran it for 2 hours, holds RPM and does not bog down any, works great, I'm calling this chore finished!!!!

Made up a couple of center console pads for the OEM consoles today. One Garnet and one Honey (spice if you have a YJ). Same leather on them as I use on steering wheels. I have a skiving machine that I use to thin down the leather that I use on the welt to make it tiny like on the original pads. My Ebay sales were down last month so maybe these will get some interest.

Have a new alum radiator, water pump and alternator on deck to be put on next week after we get back from our trip this week. Figured while I was changing the radiator I might as well change the other 2 items as it is a lot easier to do it while there is a little more space... :)

Did this red custom wheel for a speed shop. Thick leather gave my fingers a work out. My east coast personal shopper got six wheels for me this year. Thanks Eric. I bought three wheels from Ebay and covered the CJ Laredo deep spoke one. The Early Sport wheels (3-holes per spoke) were elusive this year. I prep all wheels when I get them so they are ready when I need them.

After reading a number of recommendation for an Alternator replacement......Yes Napa had one with the correct connections for the 1984 CJ8.
That noted it did not fit the bracket......So I machined a new Alternator bracket from plate aluminum. As is typical for my family...a gross overkill.

Learn a trade they told me. Go to school they told me. Obey the law they told me. Otherwise you'll have to chip rocks when you grow up they told me. Lies. All lies.

Hopfuly back to the Jeep soon.....
