What's on your Work Bench?

What’s on my work bench is working on a new work bench/tool chest, 56” base chest and a 27” top chest. I’d run out of room and organization was going downhill. So l’m eliminating 3 small tool boxes and adding this in with my other existing good box and chest. Currently, reorganizing everything, trying for everything to make sense where it ends up. One note to anyone getting new tool chests, open the box at the store and inspect them for damage. I had to return the top chest twice due to damage, the third one I had them take it out of the box and let me inspect it before I’d take it. I did cut to size and finish the butcher block top since I didn’t want a metal work surface with a rubber mat.View attachment 119323

I just did something similar awhile back and now I can't find anything

Yep, I’ll probably be in the same situation. I do have a label maker thing to label the drawers…it may help if the print is large enough.

Going to be like trying to find your room on a cruise ship that first night after closing out the bar. Trying every door .

Not on a work bench, but am pulling the powertrain out of the Corvair to detail the engine compartment and engine for the upcoming season. Haven't done that since '21 before we took it on all of RT 66 in '22. And replacing the blower bearing that started making some noise... This pic is from when we had the engine out of the wagon several years ago for reference...DSC_0734.JPG

OK, got the powertrain out and top stripped down. The blower bearing is shot as you can see from the grease coming out of the bottom. Bolts will be used for a depth gauge on the replacement bearing when I go to set it in... (Blower bearing pulls the air in over the cylinder heads, thus called an air cooled engine... Gonna have to order a couple items that I didn't have, so it may not go back together before we head back to College Station for the last 2 home games...

I see quite a bit on these Corvair engines in Experimental Aircraft......Neat stuff!
They can be certified in EX planes... Mine actually sounds like when I was taxiing our 182 back in the day...

Back in the day I had a 4speed Volvo wagon with OD. It had a pump on an eccentric cam that pumped fluid for the OD. Pretty slick stuff

Well I just spent way too much time going down rabbit holes over your latest acquisition.

Now I know how it works and how to rebuild one.
Okay, maybe not rebuild but found a very good resource for rebuilding transmissions👍.

Continuing with getting this in place and organizing tools and storage space.

I like the Milwaukee tool hanger. Should I google that or is it something you repurposed?
It’s from a company called Proper Tool. It’s the Milwaukee 6 tool holder. It’d probably be easy to make with a pattern, but my wife bought it for me, at my request.
