Finally got off my but this afternoon and freed both knuckles. I can shitcan the rest of it at the dumpster at work.


I kept the OEM steering stabilizer mounting brackets, too. Surprisingly, only a light coat of surface rust. Will.work on removing the ball joints later on.

You don’t have any metal recycling places around you? I accumulate my steel until it is time for a trip to the yard. Usually get at least a tank of gas out of the scrap each time. My best load was around $7,000. But that was when prices were way up and I was cleaning out the remains from a construction site.

I would imagine an empty housing should net $30 - $40. Maybe more???

Not now, scrap money is low, not worth the risk of a flat tire at the scrap yard 😳

The seat bottom was torn so it was time for a new one. Bought off Amazon and couldn’t be happier. While I was at it I noticed the muffler had a few small holes in it so I patched those up while I was at it. I’ve had 1200 trouble free hours out of this unit which is amazing considering how my employees treat it. I bought it off Craigslist down in Jacksonville Florida 14 years ago with 82 hours on it. Best $5500 I have spent. She works and she works hard!
 
While I was at it I finally bit the bullet and began installing a 12,000 btu mini split in my small office/tool trailer. It’ll be comfortable from 100* to 28* finally. Now those noon Ohio State football games during the lunch hour will be even more enjoyable.
All that’s left on this is to evacuate and release the R-32 refrigerant and cross my fingers that it will work. Never done one of those but I have watched plenty of YT videos. Some were good and others were entertaining to say the least.

Fixed the little mower, time for the bigger mower.

Bought new in 2012, been beating on it like a red headed step child since then. Original engine blew a few years ago so I replaced it, plus the belts and the three control cables. Rear differential case bolts backed out shortly after, fixed that. This is just the first 100 hour service on machine since the new engine. Nothing major, just oil and filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, air cleaner, and a few checks.

Second battery bit the dust this week, too. Can't complain, NAPA AGM.

And the original tires started leaking a few months ago. Have not had a single tire issue until this year, so can't complain. Being a redneck, I tried to plug the sidewall tears and filled the tires with slime. Kind of works, butch as hell, and makes a mess on the garage floor when parked 😆

So, broke down and ordered two new tires and wheels this week.

For my size yard (4 acres) with lots and lots of trees and a steep hill/cliff down to the river, this machine is about the best choice. A real tractor/bush hog just too big, and would never work on the steep hill.
