Another Scrambler Purchase/Road Trip - UPDATE- BODY ON FRAME AGAIN

Looks good! Gives me a good ideah of how mine will look but with factory 15*8's. Thanks for the photos!

What does this hose go to? It looks like it goes to the brake lines, but comes from the fuel line assembly toward the rear of the Scrambler.

I am going to have to drop my tank as well to fix my sending unit so I appreciate your excellent work and your ideas about doubling the hose layers.

I hope I am not being a pest here, but I have another question. :D

Your Jeep is so smooth that I have to ask what this piece is:

Hope you do not mind, Jeff

That hose is for the rear brakes. It just looks like it is part of the fuel system plumbing. That line runs from the frame mounted "hard line" to the axle.

Glad the info is helpful:thumbsup:

Not a problem:cheers:

The "rough stuff" is excess seam sealer. I think it is a mixture of the left over original sealer that would not come off and new seam sealer. I believe there was a metal repair in that area. I told the body guys not to worry too much about the appearance of the sealant underneath the body, but to rather make sure the seams were well sealed. They got a little bit sloppy here and there as a result:thumbsup:

I think it looks pretty good, too:cheers: Yours will have a little less "empty space" due to the lack of the 1" body lift. Also, the 8" rims will make the tires slightly taller. The factory rims will also keep the tires pretty much under the flairs:thumbsup:

Nice!

Looking great Raymond. Are you going to make it to the Nationals in June? :D

Even though this has been mentioned before I just wanted to say thanks again for taking so many detailed pictures. I have referred to your build many times when I find that my documentation photos leave much to be desired.

No problem, I am just glad all this stuff is helpful to others:thumbsup:

I think that if i want to keep my factory 8" rims, I am going to have to go back to a 10.50" wide tire. My 12.50" rub on the leaf springs up front and I can not get full turn. I don't want a 10" rim, but if I want to stay with a 12.50" tire, I am going to need new 8" rims with less backspacing:(

Has anybody else ran into 12.50's on factory 8" rims rubbing the leaf springs:shrug::shrug:

I m currently considering going to 33x10.50 KM2's on my factory steel wheels, or 33x12.50 KM2's on aftermarket 8" aluminum rims that have less back spacing, to help push the tire out slightly from the leaf springs, but not as much as the 10" rims:shrug:

Any thoughts or opinions:shrug:

Will the 10.50 give less stability on extreme side hills???

Maybe 33" tires on the factory 8" wheels wont rub due to the slightly smaller OD compared to the 35's????

Why not just adjust the stops in the front knuckles? It'll keep the tires off the springs and really doesn't affect the turn radius much, if at all.

Since I swapped on the 33's mounted on 10" rims, I have found that I have gained a huge amount of steering, and now that I discovered the greater steering capability, I don't want to give it up:D:cheers::shrug::thumbsup:

You will want a screen filter or sock before the pump and the 100 micron after the pump on the pressure side. You'll run into fuel starvation issues otherwise.... You don't want any kind of restriction on the feed to the pump especially since it's above the tank and external too.

I have the "sock" filter in the tank on the fuel pick up line. As for the other filters placement, I placed it per Hesco's instructions. So far, I have not had any problems, including driving 9+ hours straight at 75mph, and driving on extreme inclines:fingerscrossed: But, I have not drove through any extreme changes in altitude, hopefully I wont have any issues:shrug:

I thought about an internal fuel pump, but they are too difficult to repair on the trail. I keep at least one spare external fuel pump with me at all times, just in case:crazy:

It seems like most people now are recommending single line systems, with the regulator on the pump. I always thought my current dual line (fuel feed and return lines) would work better to fight vapor lock, due to the fuel constantly circulating at high speeds through the fuel lines:shrug:

Any information or opinions are appreciated:thumbsup::cheers:

How about a 33x10.5R15 tire on your 15x8 rims?

Might not rub then. BFG makes them in All Terain and Mud.

Quick list of some changes I want to make before heading to Moab:

1) Finish 4:1 Dana 300 rebuild - INSTALLED
2) Rebuild T5 transmission(s) - One is INSTALLED, the spare is on the shelf
3) Take 1" body lift off, rework clutch linkage - LEAVING FOR CLEARANCE
4) Switch 35" BFG's for 33" BFG's - ORDERED TIRES TODAY, INSTALL NEXT WEEK
5) Install Tuffy Stereo Console - INSTALLED
6) Install larger gas tank - INSTALLED
7) Rocker Protection - currently sitting on the floor under my green Scrambler

GETTING CLOSER, I am making the end of this month my deadline to get this thing ready for Moab:wave:
