Look out yard Scrambler...

Yours looks great on those 33's

I've been driving the 8 and I'm thinking, I wonder if aftermarket cruise control would be worth it. Especially for your long trip. Or would it just be wrong on an 8? Any thoughts? I know the driving position of mine and the gas pedal is uncomfortable over longer rides. How was the seven hour ride you took?

I actually prefer the driving position of my CJ's vs my TJ:thumbsup:

After having cruise in my TJ, I think it would be a nice addition to the Scrambler, especially on long trips. I only have one "reservation" about it:

My TJ Rubicon, 4.10 gears, manual transmission, 31" tires - I can put it in 6th gear, set the cruise, and never have to worry about down shifting for any grades. Basically, just set it and go.

On my Scrambler, 4.10 gears, 33" tires, T5 - I have not drove it enough on the highway yet to make any decisions yet, but I might be doing a bunch of down shifting on the hills/long grades. I am not sure yet, though:shrug:

Since I have the Mopar MPI, I wonder if I could adapt the cruise control off a 94-95 Wrangler, or do they use a column mounted stalk for the cruise control:shrug: I sure do like my steering wheel controls on my TJ:rolleyes:

But, cruise control has entered my mind:wave:

Some pictures of the Scrambler with the new 33x12.50x15 BFG KM2's on factory 8" wheels. From the little bit that I have drove it so far, it is a HUGE improvement. The pictures make the doors look really off in color for some reason?

I exceeded my monthly bandwidth "allowance" on Photo bucket. They limit bandwidth on the free accounts so that you are pressured into purchasing an "upgraded" account with unlimited bandwidth:angry: Well, I am too cheap for that:eek::thumbsup:

This usually happens toward the end of the month, but it has never happened this early in a month before, especially considering February is a short month:shrug:

Basically, too many people have viewed the pictures already this month, and Photo bucket wants me to pay for some "upgraded"account. I don't think it is because I am cool, I think it is because I have a bunch of pictures posted via Photo Bucket:crazy::eek:

All the pictures should start working again after the 1st of the month:shrug::thumbsup::angry::banghead:

Pics are working now. Looks good! I'm excited to hear the good report because this is the set up I will have on mine, the only difference will be the SBC 350 vs. the 258. Do you think you are going to keep the 1" body lift or go back to stock? By the way, I am currently using one of your photos as my desktop background, I did a little photoshop artistic stuff to it but I think it looks good! It gives me inspriation!

The Photoshop looks good:thumbsup:

I am going to keep the 1" body lift. It is hardly noticeable, and it makes cleaning/maintenance chores a bit easier. I thought about taking it off, but I would have to rework my two "custom" body mounts I made, due to the rear bed floor replacement panel being built wrong:banghead: Also, I think I need the additional clearance, even with 33's:thumbsup:

Finally, the pictures work again:woot: Previous page has pictures of the Scrambler on its new 33" tires

By linking them to show up in the thread instead of links, they're getting a 'hit' every time someone looks at the page in the thread, so even though I've seen every one of them, each time I come back to check a new post, they're getting hit again. Maybe putting up a couple and leaving the others as links would keep it from happening.

33s look great!!

Appreciate the compliments:cheers::thumbsup:

As for the posting pictures, yep, you are correct. If I posted them with the "click to view" type links, it would save a bunch of bandwidth. But, if your like me, I hate having to "click on the links" to see pictures. Something about instant gratification and what not:crazy::rotfl: So, in order to appease myself, I just make all the pictures magically pop up, and have to deal with the bandwidth consequences:crazy::cheers:

Took the Scrambler on a little road trip yesterday. Drove from Biloxi, MS to Mobile, AL on the interstate. The 33's, T5, and Mopar MPI equipped 258 worked great together. I can run at 75 mph right at around 2500 RPM. I can pass easily in overdrive, no need to down shift. I do lose a little speed on steep inclines driving into head winds while in over drive, but I guess that is to be expected considering my horsepower/aerodynamic traits:thumbsup:

I still have an issue with my gas gauge. It stayed around the 3/4 mark for half the day, then dropped kind of slowly to 1/2. It then dropped from 1/2 to right before Empty in about 5 minutes. When it hit empty, it started to sputter. Made it to a gas station, took 19.6 gallons to fill up my 20 gallon tank.

I have ran a dedicated ground wire to the back of the speedo cluster, but I might try to ground it directly to the gauge cluster, instead of the mounting post:shrug: I might also run a dedicated ground wire from the battery to the sending unit ground wire. My temp gauge works correctly most of the time, so I am thinking it is a gauge cluster grounding issue:twocents:

I did not try to record any mile per gallon info, since I didn't start with a full tank. Next road trip, I will try to get some data. I am pretty sure my speedometer is very close to accurate, I need to GPS verify:thumbsup:

There is a way around having to make everyone "click on the link" to see the pics. If you notice in all my posts with pictures, the pic is attached at the bottom of the post. In order to make the pic show up in the post so people don't have to click on it all I do is right click on the link after I have attached the pic to the post, then select "copy shortcut", then click on the little picture icon with the mountain and paste the shortcut in there and voila! It is a few extra steps but that way the pics are always there even if you delete them from your photobucket account.

Plans for your discarded 35s? More importantly, when will you be in Moab and what are your plans while there? I can suggest some god stuff in varying degrees of insanity, trailering? hotels?

If you need anything along the way I'm about 40 miles from Santa Fe so you will likely be semi close which ever route you take.
