I remember looking at folks projects that would sit for years without being finished, and now realizing that I’m “one of them”. One excuse I do have is I’ve been playing whack-a-mole with 2 other CJ-5’s, a Wagoneer and a YJ. These things will keep a man busy!
Anyway, I did a bit more piddling with the Scrambler, and last Friday night stayed out of the cocktails so I would be good and fresh on Saturday morning, as the weatherman said “no significant wind” in the forecast, so I knew this was my window to shoot the Raptor liner in the cab. I like to shoot this stuff outside because, with an attached garage, my wife isn’t thrilled about having her lasagna dish smell like a dash of fresh 2K polyurethane has been mixed in. Now, for those of you that are about to have a heart attack that I would dare choose to spray bedliner in the cab, hear me out: After purchasing this vehicle I found the floor pans (footwell and rear) had been heavily patched. I completely cut out the fronts and butt-welded replacements in, but also found a few small lapwelded patches that were structurally sound elsewhere. My back and crowded workspace simply didn’t want to tolerate cutting out and replacing the ENTIRE floor. Every Jeep I’ve ever had, I press into service, so I want it to look presentable but also have no plans to cover it in a garage and only drive on Sundays to car shows. So, with all that said, I’ve always had great luck with Raptorliner. It’s durable, easy to apply and covers up some of those “imperfections”. I used the tintable Raptor, and mixed it with the factory “Oriental Red”. Next up is some final exterior body sanding and it will be time to shoot the rest (in base/clear of course)!
