In my own defense, I did not start that "prostate exam" topic... just innocently opined that despite the (added) embarassment :o of being examined by females, they were to be preferred over males when it comes to the dreaded gloved hand... (for you young'uns, the issue is 'digital girth' :eek: )

As for the food... not much of a fan of the hospital variety. Especially after I overstayed my visit and it sat for w-a-a-a-y too long. :rolleyes: 'Course, after I starved poor Chris, then I bored him to sleep. :p Real considerate visitor, eh? :D
 
Going to help get Chris ready to come home. Jerry & I are going up to Brunswick after lunch tomorrow, to do a couple of things. We are going to build a wood rack, move piano out of living room to make room for Chris's bed, and maybe mount some hand bars in the downstairs bathroom. These are all fairly short jobs but we could use at least one more pair of hands.

So you local N. VA and MD folks pipe up..

wonderful to hear that he is coming home. I'm sure he will be glad to be home, and I'm sure you are glad to not be traveling that far every day.

$170 sent to Truck for use in the home preparations with some more on the way once my boss gives me the donation that she promised. (That doesn't include the money that JC had collected!)

Docs didn't show up this evening due to an emergency to give us the word, but I THINK he's coming home tomorrow, just have no idea when. They removed his IV today and have him on percocet and a time released morphine. He's still in pain, but happy to be coming home. :D I'm sure I'll be tired of him at some point, but right now, I can't wait to be pestered by a man who came so close to not being here at all. :eek:

Kate, It was great hearing from Jeff today. Chris was really refreshed by talking to him. Thanks for your prayers.

Jerry and Truck, there may be more assistance available if you're still here at 3 ish. A friend from church passes by this way about that time and could help with the piano and whatever else needs doing.

Our church family has packed our fridge and pantry with food, so there will be plenty to feed Jerry. My mom may even cook for you! You'll have to share with Truck, though. :p

Jerry, your visit was just what the doctor ordered... get his appetite stimulated and get lots of rest. You produced both. ;) Really, having you guys there was like having church...peaceful and uplifting. :)

The big guy is obviously feeling better. When I asked him for a little information for Truck about the bathroom bar installation, he had already been planning it in his mind and started drawing pictures and measurements! I told him to focus on getting better and leave the construction to the guys in charge. :rolleyes: He'll be sitting here in a chair giving you guys orders if he makes it home tomorrow! :D

I also have 3/4 of a cord of wood that you may have but till my jeeps are running and I am off my meds (I am layed up with a upper respitory infection) someone else will need to come get it. In a couple of weeks I can help cut some more if neede too. PM if needed

Thanks, Jeremy. If this cold weather keeps up, we need the wood for sure. We're down to pear tree pieces for seasoned wood. Chris got us alot of wood with that truck in the short month and a half that he drove it, but it's not seasoned and it's not burning.

the word from the doctors this morning is "you may be going home as soon as today". Backward speak! I'm driving my van all the way down today in hopes that it will be today!

Sounds like he is getting arround OK. I mean that he can do limited walking.

I guess that it means that he will not need a wheelchair. If he does let me know. I have an extra. But as far as the bathroom. I have a shower bench that you can place in the tub so that he can sit at regular height, not down in the tub and bathe. let me know if that would be good.

I know that there are a ton of little things that you have not thought about.

I can get the Chair and/or Bench up to Richmond if JohnN or someone else is going that way this weekend.

I'm heading up to Kurt's (NJ) at some point in the near future, but not exactly sure when...depends on Kurt's schedule. Possibly as early as Sunday, maybe later in the week or next weekend.

Even so, I could always relay it from Richmond to Jerry in Fredericksburg, if that would help. I can do that at the drop of a hat, just let me know when and if needed.

He's also hurting, and the prescriptions are still at the drug store. Hopefully, the next post you see will be from him, but we'll play that by ear. He's really happy to be home.

Great news that Chris is home now.................Paypal was a little slow this week with the transfers,but check should be going out tomorrow on what we have collected.................Chris don't over do it and Were so glad your home and still with us Bro.......-JC

It is wonderful you are back home. Moving that piano ought to give you a little room. Let me know when you think you will be navigating the stairs and if you will need that rail put in. We should have some wood coming up to you thanks to John N. just need to do a little more coordinating..

Hey guys,
It's me this time....had the most wonderful night's sleep last nite.Soooo good to be home.Truck,Jerry...the house looks great the bar works like a champ, thanks for all the help that piano was a moose wasn't it. I cant spend alot of time sitting so i gotta go. thanks so much for your prayers and support for my wife you guys hav really eased her burden thanks :D
