It sat on a ranch for a long time as a hunting vehicle with a big tower on the back and a bumper up front with two seats that I pulled off. I suspect it has heavier springs because it didn't lift up much after putting a few hundred pounds of steel off of it.
It's an 83 "Longhorn" edition from a local dealer.

Ok so I have been lurking. Mine is a 1984 I6 Howell TBI, TF999, 4" Pro Comp lift, 35" BFG MTR. I bought the Scrambler in 2006, restored it and then sold it in 2009 when things went south. I found it on Craigslist in Las Vegas in December 2013 and was able to purchase it back (with a lot of help from my wife). So now I am figuring out all the gremlins that it came back with, all the new creaks and groans and rattles. Just so happy to have it back.
My wife and I own a 1979 Jeep Cherokee Chief that our son drives back and forth to school, the 84 Scrambler ( that he does not drive) and my beautiful wife drives a 2000 Jeep Wrangler that our 9 Y.O. daughter has staked a claim too! Guess we have evolved into a Jeep family......So now to figure out the picture posting.....

Welcome! I am a second Generation Jeeper and am activly supporting my Grandchildren in their evolving Jeep habit ( oldest grandson is on his sixth CJ at the ripe old age of 20) along with getting started on my grandaughters first one. 
Hello. My name is Sean. I have to confess, mine is not technically a Cj-8. Built the frame out of 2 early bronco front ends(front half is a 68’ and rear half is a 70’). So it has coils and radius arms front and rear. Drive train is a 2006 aluminum LS2, trans is a NV4500 with a Dana 300 case. Axles are Dana 44s front and rear. Rear has an OX locker and the front has a Lock right. It’s rolling on 36” radial Irocks. I own property on Drummond island so I wheel a lot there.

Well, while I don't qualify as a "Scrambler-er", I do fit in the "Jeep-er" category. I'm rebuilding the 258 in my '80 CJ5 now and so I just drive the '05 Rubicon or the '99 Wrangler until I get my favorite ride back together. I'm down to only the 3 Jeeps right now since tags and insurance was a little expensive on 5 at once and I can only drive one at a time.
I do have limitations however, when the '07 models came out I searched and found an '06 with 1800 miles. I seems there is too much plastic on the '07 and up. There's plenty plastic on the '06 and earlier already. I couldn't see getting something with the V6, automatic and plastic body parts.
I enjoy playing in UT, AZ, NM and CO even though I live in Arkansas. It's just tough to get there over the weekend.
So, I'm crawling back into the shadows and LURKING some more.

Newly minted CJ8 owner (as of last Friday).
Tangerine orange CJ8 with 6" lift, stock drive train. Previous owner spent his time and money upgrading and restoring body and interior.
I haven't crawled into the vehicle's details yet so I have a long journey of discovery ahead of me before I decide what needs attention first.

Been lurking for a little while here, been a jeep nut for many years. I have many cj7 and a few wranglers, always been looking for a scrambler. I finally found a tub here in Michigan a few months ago and a frame. Tub is in good shape except floor, I am in process of replacing it now. Pics to follow soon, hope to meet you all at Silver Lake this summer.

I have had several CJs in the past and always found that when I was done fixing it up it was time to move on, so I sell them quickly. I have always wanted a scrambler, so when the itch came to find another CJ, I searched until I found an 8. I will be going through the process of bringing it back to its original glory, but not going so far as a complete frame off restoration. It's in very good shape as it sits and just needs some love and attention.
1983 CJ8 w/ 258 I6 T5 transmission. All original, except for the home made bed boards. The of cab hard top has never come off of it. It was a two owner and currently has 180,000 miles. There are no modifications to the Scrambler of any sort. It's a blank slate.
