What about a nice bumper sticker: "My other Jeep is a Scrambler"? I'd buy two if you did them!
 
I like your choices! I vote for the vinyl, in silver- sort of a match for the wheels. I also think the curved 4wd logo is more consistent to the rest of the logos. One question on placement- most of the tailgate 4wd logos I remember are more towards the lower right corner. I might be wrong, though...just an idea.

Jeff- your drawings are most impressive. You wouldn't happen to have a set for both a Scrambler and a JK Unlimited, would you? I've been trying to get a good set of line drawings to use for designing bumpers, ect- but have had no luck.

I'll check my photo archives for the placement of the curved 4wd logo. I think I've seen it in both places but I may have some Willys documentation to show us for sure.

As for the drawings, thanks :) Here's what I've done for Scramblers. I've never done any of the JK Jeeps, never had a reason to. Haven't needed to do any front or rear views of the CJs either.

If you'd like a Scrambler drawing in a different color, or with different equipment or in just B&W let me know and I'll work one up for you.

I checked and you are correct... for CJ's. See this link: http://www.film.queensu.ca/cj3b/Dating/4WDStencil.html. This link shows the placement for CJ's, and all the way at the bottom of the page they show placement for the pickups - for the pickups, the logo is centered vertically. I also have Willys parts catalog/restoration guide that shows the centered placement for the pickups. And here's a photo that shows it:

Does anyone vote against the "4 Wheel Drive" script on the side of the hood? I'm wondering if this will really look right on a TJ or if it is overkill. This is the one part I'm still not sure about.

More opinions please...

I like the 4wheel drive on the hood. I personally would do white instead of silver, but that is just personal taste.

I still think I need a version of the "Jeep Truck" that has "Truck's Jeep" with the "Truck's" above the jeep logo. :rolleyes: ;) ... I know you did one for me already. I think I might use it on the trail rig whenever I get it built.

I was considering white, I do think white would look better on the tailgate at least. But maybe it is too intense for the hood sides and lower fenders? Both my TJ and my LJ had silver - does anyone know what paint colors Jeep put the white stickers on?

Do you want me to have the sign shop make a few "Truck's Jeep" stickers for you? Not sure what they would cost, I would guess less than $15 each.

I don't know...I like it. What if you sized it to fit the area behind the hood (similar to where you have Overlander on your Scrambler)?

Hmmm... interesting idea. I'll have to check on the passenger side, the antenna might be in the way there on the TJ.
(EDIT: Antenna isn't in the way, actually this is where the early Wranglers had a "Wrangler" logo.)

What do you guys think of this one? It is a little more subtle. Do you like it better than on the hood or not as good?

First off, I can't believe this is the first time I've posted on this thread...I've been watching the whole build and am, like everybody else, amazed! Congrats again on such an incredible job!

Regarding the stickers, I think it looks better to have the script on the hood, instead of directly above the "Jeep Truck" sticker. I think having it on the hood ties the front clip together with the tub better.

On a side note, wouldn't Truck get a volume discount on those "Truck's Jeep" stickers? He's got something like a hundred jeeps....:eek: :D

I stopped by the body shop today and they've been making good progress multitasking in between all the other stuff they've got going on. They told me they do several dozen "deer collision" jobs every year about this time - wow!

Panel prep is ongoing; they plan to have everything ready for paint by Friday. Friday they'll do the Rhino Liner (I'm doing the inside sides and front panel of the bed, the inside of the tailgate and the top edge of the tub where the hardtop sits in Rhino tinted red to match the paint. They want to let the Rhino set up over the weekend and they will shoot the paint next week.

I'm really starting to like twmattox's idea to put the 4 Wheel Drive scripts on the cowl instead of the hood. All the early Wranglers had logos there, either Wrangler, or Sahara or something, so it is definitely a factory location for a logo. More input is definitely welcome on this one though...

My personal preference is that I don't like anything on a hood other than a stock emblem (Rubicon, Scrambler, Renegade, etc) so I much prefer the cowl location.
 
ditto...I like the cowl location, too. Are you gonna get some "Trail Rated" badges to put on, too?

I also vote for the curved 4 wheel drive logo on the back.

Any thoughts on putting a name to the rig, like "Scrambler", "Wrangler", etc on the side of the hood?

So far I'm leaning toward cowl for the script and curved on the back.

There is a Trail Rated badge on the driver's side. I never realized it until you asked the question, but on the passenger side in the place of the badge is the radio antenna. Maybe there's a hole in the tub under the badge on the driver's side for the antenna when the tub is built RHD? I will leave the badge on the driver's side in place.

Name on the side of the hood? No, I'm not a fan of those. That's also why I like the cowl idea, to keep the hood clean.

I vote for the cowl, too.

The drawings are great. Those will work for the Scrambler. What I'm trying to do is upload line drawings and then design bumpers on the computer, alot easier than trial and error bending and welding...cheaper too!
 
I like the cowl location rather than the hood myself. As far as the rear, it seems to me that the 'font' of the art deco gladiator logo is more consistent with the embossed logo on the tail gate, but! the curved one does sem more period correct for a willys truck you patterned the bed after.

FWIW, i am thinkking of putting a reman willy's tailgate on my scrambler, just need to verify the measurements and round up the parts. That count?
 
So it will be script on the cowl; curved on the tailgate and everything in silver. Going to get them made today.

Quick turnaround on the decals...

I apoligize if this has already been covered...but is the large Jeep logo you have printed the same size as the stamped Jeep logo on the world cab rear door?
