OT: Retro Wrangler/Willys Pickup (long)

and over the next few months I've got some other trips planned, maybe the Easter Jeep Safari, maybe the Midwest Willys Jeep Reunion in Tennessee in May, maybe the York Jeep show. Time to enjoy it now!

You gotta come to the PA Jeeps show in York. I can't wait to see it there ;) I know my Scrambler won't be there this year, maybe next year - township won't let me work on it in my driveway- that's one reason I want to move.

about your "new" Jeep AMAZING!!!

Thanks!! :)

I'm just about to drive it to Utah for the Easter Jeep Safari, I'm looking forward to getting it off the roads and onto the trails :).

I have the York event in my calendar, but haven't decided if I'll drive down for that one yet, there are a bunch of events I'd like to get to, we'll see how the summer goes...

Well I'm happy to report that both the Retro and the driver survived their first off-road experience without damage. The Retro did everything asked of it with no problems. I felt especially good about that because several of the other vehicles in our party had to be strapped over a few of the larger obstacles.

I quickly got over my initial shock - the trail I was on starts with a very steep dirt hill with a tight turn at the top - I thought "Holy Crap, you expect me to drive up that!?", but no problem at all. The Retro performed much better than I could have hoped. Once the initial shock was over it was pure fun.

Here's a few action shots from today.

Great looking and capable too! Can't ask for more than that! Cool pics, too!

Jeff,
Finally off road - looks like great weather too!

Keep an eye out for these two Jeeps while you're out there. Both of these guys are going to be out there this week around Moab. They are from my local club here in Huntsville, AL.
I think they are somewhere in route right now, maybe northern New Mexico.

It if makes you feel any better I have to leave here Wednesday morning to be back home by the weekend. I'll miss the big vendor expo, Matt, etc... :(

Maybe I'll be able to come next year and stay the whole week.

just got the June 2009 issue of JP...
Congrats on the feature Jeff!! looks awesome!!

I usually get my copy of the magazine at least a week after it hits the news stands, so I guess it will be a while before I get to see it :(

I hope they wrote a nice article

I was bummed when I didn't have mine in the mail today after finding this out! :banghead:

So which trails did you run while you were there Jeff? If you do decide to come next year let me know and we find some good ones that not everyone gets to enjoy

This being my first time and not knowing what to expect, I did a few of the easier ones - 3D and Copper Ridge. I also did a trail in Arches National Park to Tower Arch, which was of similar difficulty to 3D.

Those are good choices Jeff, the back way into Arches is a nice ride, Whale eye arch is nice, Tower Arch is really impressive I thought, and the Marching Men or something like that is pretty impressive as well, all back there off the normal park loop.

Sounds like you had fun, that's a good thing for us, but you may as well abandon hope, sell your chamois and resign yourself to to curse......... It's all over for you brother!

Next trip back if you want some company hollar, we can find some really nice stuff of comparable difficulty both around Moab and on over by Green River and with great scenery and/or petroglyphs

Finally! Got my June issue of JP today in the mail. I'm pretty happy with the article, although there's one inaccuracy - they've greatly inflated the "estimated cost" of the project. Maybe they added a huge amount for my labor, I don't know, but it didn't cost anywhere near the amount they listed, even if you include the $20k for the LJ.

But overall it's a very nice article, I am pleased with it.

I just got my issue a few days ago.....
That's a great article. Congrats Jeff.

WOW!! Post #900 on this tread....
