SOA Mascot....

GREAT IDEA!

You can count on the California Gang to help! For starters I should have a rear bumper (nice, one year old double tube chrome) in a few months when I swap it out for a new swing arm!

HERE'S AN IDEA>>>>>
What if we search for a "really good deal" on a donor vehicle (frame and tub) and then chip in to purchase jointly???

;) :D

Stockish...

I didn't necessarily mean Bone-Stock.....I like the term stockish....Personally I think Scramblers look better with a little lift....

I also agree that we don't succumb to the "Pimp my ride" type of scenario.....We are a bunch of pretty regular folks, anything we put together should have that feel as well.....

Maybe a 4" lift with stock axles and 33's......

As far as charities go, I don't know what's out there other than the ones I already contribute too.....I like the Idea of supporting the troops....Like it or not we are there, and I think we ought to support them. I'm sure some of them would rather not be there as well, but alas they are...

Well it looks like it is a go. So let's get the legal portions out of the way and start selling tickets. I would buy. I bet we would a few $1000 just off this board.

As for titles, some states are stict some aren't. My frame had no Identifing number on it. Here in TX the only thing they care about is the tub and you can get a builders title and VIN issued for about anything if you have a Certificate of Origin. Once it is titled in one state the others should except. I would think. I think a Donor is the way to go.

Isn't there a Lawyer in our midst? What all would need to be done to make this Legal?

Did someone call for a lawyer?

No, not me...but during our "kickoff" get together (Southern California Scrambler Buds) gathering last night one of the guys DID say that's HIS profession. His name is Tom, and I found him listed on the Scrambler Owner's site. I will email him now.

Stay tuned....

:D

Dang. I was just about to suggest that we add a PlayStation 2 in the back. Isn't that what all the cool car (truck?) projects are getting? ;)

I was actually thinking of a DVD on the roof but if it's a play station, well, whatever.

.. and that got me to thinking about something....

I deduced that between most all of us we probably had enough parts to make up a Scrambler from scratch....It would be kinda cool to have one built from parts that we all pitched in. One that was pretty much stock that reflected the the way Scramblers were originally. We could use it spread "Scrambler Awareness" at Jamboree's, car shows and the like....

We could have each Geographical area responsible for some aspect of the assembly.....northeast could do the engine, Southwest the Body, Northwest Tranny, southeast running gear....Then we could haul all the parts to Arkansas for the national and assemble it all in one weekend.....We could get some press coverage, get some sponsors to kick in free parts....

It's just an idea I had.....

Bill

I still like the original intent of the thread by Bill.
There seems to be that way or what looks like now- just aquire & finish a donor 8 & raffle it off.
I mean we can do that too but I like the 1st idea of trying to build one ground up from our spare parts combined- I mean, talk about the Jeep Karma that thing would have!!:D

I've got...

tub from fire wall back...minimal rust
frame minimal rust at rear behind gas tank area and at rear spring hangers.

complete, but rusted completely out 82 scrambler....engine starts...but runs rough....this one has a clear NC title.

Was gonna use it for spare parts, but just stole the hard doors and 1/2 hard top and Dana 300....rest of the jeep is still there...but I think that the tranny is shot...at this point only good for the tailgait, rollbar.... and other misc. parts.

Glad to donate any of this....Matt, could I make this tax deduct.!!?:D

Headlights

Hank,

Don't you DARE think about donating those square headlights you are going to take off of that "new" '8 you just picked up from some dude in South Carolina!   ;)

This idea sounds good. I don't have many parts, but I'd be good for some $$.

Notice I didn't say $$$$$$$$$$$$$$:p

Sounds like we gotta winner there FELNTPSY! Frame and tub is the hardest part!

I llike the idea of a raffle....with the procedes going to charity(s)....

I have a 4.2L head, bell housings, and lord know what else laying around, if we need one....

I found a Hood, MAYBE?

I see that eegs2k is selling a hood! Perhaps we can charm him into adding it!? "Who's his buddy?" :D

GREAT IDEA

I'm in and i'll leave the sawzall at home:( I don't have many parts either since i sold all my stock stuff a few years back, but i'm always running across stuff from time to time-JC;)

pimp a cj8

I've got a complete 84 258 with 43k sitting over @ our rental ...
z

Looks like several engines are available but, there's a complete 258 w/ clutch and flywheel sitting in a shop up in town. Running but low oil pressure when removed. It's been sitting a few years. He wants $100 for it all which I will gladly donate if it's needed. I also have a starter which is stamped with a Ford logo, but I was told Jeep used them at some time in the past (I had it tested and it's good). I also have an ac compressor w/ hoses.

I can donate my front and rear dual tube chrome bumpers if the project can live with chrome (I can't!). The rear has a 2 " square hitch receiver. Maybe some black oval rear bumperettes which were original on my 7.

We need to put someone in charge of this to co-ordinate parts and a donation sight for them. Extra parts could be sold off to generate funds. I love giving things away. I get a good feeling from it. Yesterday I pulled some kids in a Yukon out of a ditch and saved them $40 towing fee (new dana 44 - I had to try it out). This evening I gave some young guy up the road 200 lbs of grass seed to sow in his yard at the house he's building. Of course, I'm a nut!:D
