How a lot A New Workbench, said in a game show host voice. My brother gifted me (2) solid wood doors 78” x 36” x 2” and said they make great workbenches. Had some 2”x2”x1/4” angle ready to use and away I went. I had the (4) swivel casters that have the capability to lock in the 90* positions in the shop from who knows where. Came out pretty nice. I debated on table height between 40” and 36” but I settled on 36”. They roll nicely on the old tennis court surface so that’s a plus. I already have some tools on the bottom like the miter saw and plasma cutter. I have a second vise that I’m considering mounting to it, we’ll see
Well, CJ-8-1/2 was “gifted” a 1999 Chevy 1500 2wd from his Papa, that PappPaw to you non-southerners. Let’s call Papa CJ-6, fitting I think!!
It’s a clean 5.3 with 187k on it, no rust but a few mechanical issues and some lock/window stuff going on. All in due time. Got some polished alloys on it but a true Grandpa truck and not cool for a 15 yo on his permit. So he scraped together some coin for an Amazon leveling kit for it. He and I spent the evening out in the shop during this current weather event, who’s feeling stupid now, installing it. Thing I love about the truck is just how clean it is. No rust and hasn’t been violated by anyone.
Pretty straightforward install, tear it apart and get the coils out to install the spacers to lift it. What I was glad I did was head on into Winston-Salem taking my life into my own hands to Harbor Freight for their coil spring compressor on sale to aid in the installation. Couldn’t have done it without this tool.
All in all a good evening in the shop and CJ-8-1/2 is tickled with the measured +2” lift I. The front. I really like the new stance.
