    bigwalton's Postal Stroker

Been there - and still am on a lot of projects. (Willys Wagon project - lost count of the years in the garage, maybe 26 now? Swapped in a 4.0L from a 1996 XJ when it was still fairly modern! But I try to do something on it at least once a year and it is now drivable!) Maybe it's a sign of too...

    What's on your Work Bench?

Next chapter in my CJ-2A project...been working on this Jeep for 42+ years!

    Thinking of a JT...

Unfortunately, a Jeep is like driving a refrigerator down the road with the door open when it comes to headwind! We usually lose a MPG or two going into the wind and pick 1 or 2 MPG with the wind behind us. Towing will drop MPG likely to 10-14 depending on load, wind, speed and hills

    Eaton E-Locker 4 (D44 4-pinion model)

I just installed one in a Jeep Gladiator front axle. I did not re-gear, so set-up was minor. I thought it went well and so far it works fine, but have not really engaged the locker a ton yet...just a few shorter two-track runs in the snow. Some tips for you if you are NOT re-gearing and...

    Thinking of a JT...

We picked up a slightly used 2022 JT w/max tow package and 33 tires. Its a pretty nice truck and replaced our JKU. I put in a 2" mopar lift, e-locker in the front axle, and plan to put on a winch and skinny 35 tires. I agree on the 3.6L/8 speed trans combo - it does it's job great. Know that...

    Towing ?

I tow a tear drop camper with my CJ-8 all over. Some trips being 1000+ miles round trip. No worries other than comfort is a little primitive by todays standards. Braking is fine with trailer brakes.

    Cherokee Chief

They do sound nice and they are torque monsters

    Cherokee Chief

Tough call - depends maybe on how you are going to use it. If you are going to daily drive it or long trips maybe the 6.0L route (OD trans would be nice), but if its a toy/weekend cruiser, 401?

    New to Jeeps

Cool project and welcome. I kinda like the beefy front bumper and that's a highly sought after winch on the front!

    Current Scrambler pics

Great pictures and video, that's my kind of Jeeping! I like your navigation set-up- is that GAIA on the tablet? I just downloaded that app on my phone and was considering a subscription and maybe setting it up on a tablet. Also looked at ONX offroad, but think I like GAIA better.

Don't Use a Wagoneer Front Axle

I sent my axle shaft into Moser Engineering - they shortened and re-splined. Easy button, no problems, cost was reasonable and service was quick (this was 10 years ago...) I actually sent in a spare at the same time so I have one on hand.

    AI invented a Dana 30

I agree, it's a little scary on both fronts. Yesterday during the AT&T "outage" I wondered how many people could not get to their destination without their phone telling them where to go! To be fair there are still a lot of the younger work force out there that a smart as shit, just hope...

Let's be serious for a minute

....I do have most of my small Jeep stuff boxed and boxes labeled - just can't remember what all I have! Should have created an excel spread sheet! But I also do have a fair amount of stuff that probably should be pitched. I have also scrapped out stuff that killed me....our 1985 Wagoneer...

Let's be serious for a minute

She knows about all of "our" Jeeps and knows we have a lot of parts. As far as value and inventory, no idea and I've lost track too, but most is probably worth more as scrap anyway.

    What's on your Work Bench?

Ha, ha...sometimes I think it's a curse knowing how to do stuff! Cuts into too much fin time!

    33 inch tire 10.5 vs 12.5 width.

33x10.5 general grabber MT's on 8" wheels. 1982 w/wide trac width axles and 4" lift I find the 10.5 works better on Jeeps than the 12.5 in almost all conditions due to PSI of the footprint...enough floatation but not so much you are sliding around.

2001 XJ 4.0 cutting out issue - any input?

Good to know, thank you for posting. We've had some trouble with my daughter's 2000 XJ lately too - intermittent misfires and then acting like a rev limiter at 2750 rpm +/-. Pulled plugs and found one glazed...same cylinder as the misfires. So I assumed the glazing may be overheating from a...
