1983 frame off refresh - finally

For the hardtop rear hatch lift cylinders here's what I used;

They went in looking like this;

They also came with 4 of these of which I needed one as one of mine was broken off...

Also worth noting is that my spare is a 33-10.50-15 on a stock 15x7 chrome wheel and the rear hatch would foul against the tire the trying to open the hatch. What I did to remedy this was to shim, with washers, the spare further aft (backward for you non-nautical/aeronautical types) to gain clearance.

I'll post the part numbers in the hardtop section for prosperity's sake.

I had to do the same washer trick with my old tan Scrambler that had an ACME full top. I was running 33x12.50's on an aftermarket 8" wheel :thumbsup:

Silver Scrambler with a black ACME hardtop looks fantastic. Nice choice. Hatch cylinders went bad on mine, my son rolled his truck with a Leer canopy, and I grabbed the cylinders from the broken canopy to fix my ACME hardtop. Those Truck Upfitters are a nice way to go.

Just to update things on this, I've been driving the heck out of this thing! That's what I'm supposed to do right?
Working out/through several things that have decided to show themselves. The first being debris in my fuel bowl again causing rough idle and a tip in miss. I have a large in line fuel filter before the fuel pump and one just before the carb (MC2100, Thx Rosco) with fuel return. No idea at all!

It's all back together with new filters so let's see how long this'll last.

Power steering leak update next - Yeah, it's at the box, URGGH!

When was the last time you dropped the tank and dumped the content to see what is in the tank ? I have a neighbor who just got a tank of junk gas. Needed gas and got from a suspected problem station

Hanging out with its garage mate. Had to flip parking spots with the EB and bring the 8 down to the lower garage where the work happens. Poor thing hasn't been in here in a long time. Ol' girl had some skunk worx upgrades.
Compared to driving the EB she is quite a bit "bumpier" with the what I think is a higher end lift in the OME 2.5" YJ conversion than the EB has with its Bilstein 1.5" lift. No BL on the EB and a 1" on the 8, coils springs up front on the EB and leaves on the 8. EB sits like a Toyota truck/4Runner - meaning the seat isn't too high off the floorboard whereas the 8 is very high and upright. I almost forgot the 8 has it's steering wheel offset as well as its pedals. The 8 has much quicker steering than the EB and the 4 wheel vacuum assist discs are wayyyyyyy better than the manual disc front (I added these) drum rear on the EB. The EB is set to get hydro boost next month off a sketchy Marketplace deal.
Thanks for looking and more to follow..........

The pin broke in two and 1 of the spider gears in 1/2........Combing the market now
Inspect the crap out of the ring and pinion gears. If bits got tossed around when it let go there could be more damage lurking.
