Fisherman in serious accident

Update on Chris

Hey, the name was Katrina, JC, I'm Chris' oldest daughter and the one you talked to at "Chris' house." Just posting to give you guys an idea of what's going on with my dad. According to my mom, Dad is doing 'fabulous.' His chest tube is hardly draining at ALL, and his oxygen intake is up to 99%. Before, they had had to give him an oxygen mask because his oxygen levels weren't high enough.

He's using Percoset (spelling?) for the pain now, instead of the morphine. That's really good news because the Percoset is in pill form, so he can bring it home with him, where the morphine was in an IV. I sent Truck pics of the truck, because I had no idea how to get them on here.

Thank you guys so much for praying. I'm making a list of everybody who's concerned about him and making sure my dad gets it, so that he knows how strongly you all are behind him. Thanks so much!

-Katrina

That is great news Katrina,

I got the pix. God was truely watching over your dad.

Katrina,

Thank you for taking the time to give us an update on your Dad! The photos are amazing! I cannot believe that he survived! We are all wishing him a rapid and complete recovery. I look forward to hearing him tell his story in person one day!

WOW, that's incredible. I feel bad for even calling mine an accident after seeing these other incidents... man!

Great to hear that he's doing better and that he's getting closer to coming home. Thanks for posting that and passing along the pictures. There's a lot of people pulling for him to get better quickly.

OMG, I just got a chance to swing by and read this thread. My heart about fell on the floor, to see somebody we know in such a tragic accident (from the description and how the rig looks).. Chris, god was on your side and from the sounds of things you doing better by each passing day. But it also sounds like you are surrounded by a great family. May you make a full recovery....

I just sent out a card today from our family. It was kind of weird to hand-sign a card "Craig Emenaker (1x1_Speed_Craig)", I must say. I think it's the first time I have hand-written my online username (on multiple boards) on anything. I hope Chris has a VERY speedy recovery.

I just got an email from Diana, who says visitors would be good for Chris and he is up to it. I'm going to try and make a trip over to see him and give him some cheer.

If I can't make it tomarrow it will be Monday.

cheers,

Truck

Wifie here again

Hi Guys,

YOU ARE SO WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JC, I can't wait to get the printouts of this thread. Chris will be in tears (yes, men cry).

Great news. The doc says the chest tube can come out tomorrow (Sunday). He is still very weak and will need accommodations like a special bed, railings in the bathroom, etc. in order to make the house accessible to him. He's a little nervous about coming home because of all the unknowns, however, he misses the kids SOOO much, that I know he'll do whatever he has to to get here.

Thank you all so much for all your wonderful words and support, and offers of support.......

PLEASE, if you can come visit....DO! He is so uplifted by you guys, it's like you are brothers (better than brothers, cause he's really not that close to his brothers). The amount he would be tired out by a visit would be far surpassed by the encouragement it would give him to see you guys.

Funny, one of you mentioned that you had to sign the card with your board name. Chris got a card yesterday from Dave and Chris didn't recognize it until he saw the signature - the board name signature!

His head is a little foggy still, mostly, I hope, from the medications.
Mine is too, but it's called sleep deprivation. I'm a stay at home mom who is now commuting 2 hours each way to get to the hospital, stay from 10-8 and come home to take care of paperwork and kids stuff at home. All Chris sees is that I'm not there when he wants me (which is ALL THE TIME). He's such a baby, but I LOVE MY BABY and I hope to have him home by the end of next week, Lord willing.

Keep the cards coming. He is so encouraged by them!
Love you guys!
Diana

Chris is lucky he survived that accident, but he's even more lucky that once he did, he has you and the rest of his family to come home to.

Glad to hear he's doing so well. After hearing the description of the accident and seeing those pictures, it's hard to imagine he even made it through the wreck.

We look forward to hearing more about his improvements!

Went to visit Chris

Hi all, I just wanted to pass along some words. My wife and I went to visit Chris this afternoon. He seems to be doing well considering the circumstances. Although I believe he is still in a lot of pain, he is in good spirits and apreciated our visit. Of course he wanted to talk Jeeps! :D Gotta love a guy like that. I passed along everyones "well wishes and prayers". I also printed this thread and passed it to him (all 23 pages). He thanked all of us for our prayers, but we need to continue because he ain't out of the woods yet. He still has some recovery time to go. But as is typical of Chris is strong and has a good heart so should make it through all just fine. He did have the chest tube taken out today and was thankful of that. His BP and oxygen were good as well. If anyone else in the area has the opportunity to see him he is in Rm 553 at George Washington University Hospital. I know he would appreciate more folks to help distract him from his ailments. All in all though things are looking up!

Cheers,

Truck

Diana,

My intent is to come by tomorrow - Monday. My wife has cleared me 'healthy' enough (NONcontagious) to not imperil Chris' recovery. :)

As well, IRT special accomodations (bathroom railings, etc)... What can I do to help. I'd be more than glad to make a run up to your place to buy/install whatever you/Chris need to aid his homecoming/recovery. PLEASE! Do NOT hesitate... I like 'handyman' kinds of projects and it'll give me an excuse to get outa the office for a day or two.

God bless Diana! You're a real trooper!

Visits! Yeah!

Truck, thanks for the visit. Man, did that make his day! I read all 23 pages to him right after you left. Yes, he wiped several tears. You guys rank.

Jerry, I'll be looking for you tomorrow. I won't tell Chris. I just love surprises  and I love to watch him being lifted up.

For the first day in 10, I saw my husband's face again; the unpained one, for a brief time. :D It was just after they removed the tube. He was relieved that is didn't hurt as much as it did going in and felt encouraged.

As far as installing accommodations, I don't even know where to start, if insurance will cover stuff like that, or how to go about getting it. I'm hoping the hospital people will help with that information, but Jerry, I'll take you up on the offer for sure if we need help with installation!

You guys are a blessing.
Diana

A little home makeover this weekend?

Having to deal with insurance and all isn't something that you should have to do to get the stuff you need for the house, especially if it's needed sooner rather than later. (I'm not real fond of the insurance industry right now :D )

JC inspired me with his comment about taking some time off... If we could get a handful of folks up there this weekend with some tools and we each picked up one or two of the needed items and installed them, we could knock this out in no time with a lot less hassle for a family that already has a lot to deal with.

I'd be willing to head up there on Friday night to work on Sat. morning, anyone in Richmond willing to hop in my XJ with a couple of tools to go up too? We could arrange pickup somewhere convenient.

Could someone up that way house a few of us on Sat. night if we could get some folks up?

We could hit a hardware store or wherever we needed to get stuff from on Sat. morning and work to install it that afternoon...

Anyone else? Thoughts or suggestions are welcome. If we could put together a list of the needed stuff this week that would be great so we could divide and conquer once we're up there...

I'm really glade things are moving in the right direction for Chris. If I was closer I would love to stop by and drop off a few 4wheeling magazines or something. Keep his mind on anything but what he is feeling. JC, Truck , OpLaw thanks for all the postings. Chris has a great family from the feeling I get after reading his daughter and wives postings. He is truly a blessed man. After looking at the pictures, what can you say other then "wow". He must have a mission of a higher sort to still fulfill on this Earth.

Chis, I have a little montra for you. CJ8, CJ8 CJ8 CJ8... It is waiting for you like a good old dog.......
