Gazzo's Down-under CJ thread

I have seen those and I am impressed. I might have mentioned ive pulled the dollars on this project now though and that's an expensive unit even before converting to Australian pesos and freight. Good thought though.

Wait till November - December. Last 2 yrs they have had sales. Might help.

They are expensive and it doesn't matter where you live. Also they advertise 7-10 turnaround on custom gauges and it took me 45 days to get mine.

Steady on!, it wont work when the vehicle is stood still on a dyno, so probably no good for Gazzo anyway...

Good point! That's funny.

In other news Old Mate has pretty much got the 3.8L V6 in this Heep sorted and I got to do laps up and down the road out the front of my shop. Holy Toledo Batman this thing flies. I haven't been in a CJ that pulls like that. You guys with your monster V8s are bonkersImageUploadedByTapatalk1465894513.188828.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1465894525.289056.jpg

I believe these are not legal in the US. I think rear lights including signal lights are supposed to be red.

It's how we roll over here[emoji6]

When I eventually get this crate over the pits I'll be getting the 33s back on on so I figured I'd better get the slightly wide tyres covered. I got some 20mm thick polyethylene strips cut and I formed them up to suit the steel mudguards already there. Heat, bend, cool, mark, drill, tap, fit. Tadaaaa!ImageUploadedByTapatalk1466067986.452220.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1466068018.172937.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1466068030.787934.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1466068098.674223.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1466068117.578129.jpg
Fit up the mud flaps and I reckon I might be on to something.

You guys rock. [emoji41][emoji41][emoji41][emoji41][emoji41] thanks.

What the hell, make that x5. Still love the flatbed. Wish I could find that over here. I know if the truck was over here it would definitely get looks.

So a little ray of sunshine burst through the clouds today and I got the green light to go pay the license for Farmtruk and I'd get my plates. Well with much excitement and exuberance I fled down to the DoT (at 3:20 on a Friday arvo no less), waited only 5 minutes for my number to come up then went to the counter. The Princess looks at me then at my form and spits "where the proof of ownership, the receipt?" OMFG!!!!!! Can't believe I got shot down at the final hurdle by some low level bureaucratic BS. Walked out with yet another fail.
Plan from here? Drive tomorrow 1.5hours to the original owner (luckily I connected with him as soon as I found his name in the glove box) and he will give me the "receipt" so I can go ahead and deliver it with much pomp and ceremony first thing Monday morning.
In the words of one Mr C Brown.....GOOD GRIEF!!!!

I never go to the DMV anymore. Luckily Louisiana allows private companies to do this also. These people are a lot friendlier because they don't get payed until they provide you with a service. They will tell you everything you need to get the FIRST time you go in there. Heck they will even thank you for coming in. You would be lucky if the DMV clerk even stops eating her tator chips.

So lucky. We still have to deal with the actual DMV in Virginia. I need to go in and ask about the process to get a replacement VIN tag for my "windshield" and it scares the crap out of me.
